    You pretty much destroy the handle and reel seat during this process. Pliers, knife, and heat gun. Need to be careful.

    I usually put shrink-wrap on wore cork. I sometimes fill cracks with a wood glue and cork dust slurry. I have also rebuilt a few rods. For that, strip off handles, reuse the blank, but also spine the rod. It's tough to reuse an old cork handle.

    I have an oxygenator and constantly add new water with great luck. You can have the healthiest walleyes in the box. However, 10 minutes after a pike is added to the livewell, the walleyes go belly up.

    Turnips don't fix nitrogen in he soil. Bacteria that nodulate on legume roots do. Turnips are great nitrogen scavengers though. They decompose easily the following year and mineralize the scavenged nitrogen.
