    That was a solid 8+lb fish when it was caught. They lose weight fast. Stress causes them to produce slime and lose water weight. I've seen big walleyes lose a pound in a few hours.

    I own a set, but when I travel I usually just buy a set of U.S. divers snorkel, mask, and fins set for around 40$ at the destinations local Walmart, and then give it away when I leave.

    What kind of fish are these?

    Both rainbows, bleed em and put on ice, or fillet them while they're still alive. Their meat breaks down as soon as they die, so you either have to get the blood out or get em filleted quick and on ice, otherwise the meat gets mushy n gross tasting.
