    Hunting Dog Names

Name it after a former pooch to keep that name alive, or after a sports hero, a couple of different ways to go outside of the box. I named my dog Palo (pall - o) after Troy Palomalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A friend told me that it sounded a lot like CHICKEN (POLLO), so I had to Google...

Best way to clear snow off my roof cat2?

This morning the early news said winds could gust up to 60mph with sustained winds around 35-40mph. It's a 48hr blunder. On a positive note the 48hrs prior will include some melting so that the snow will crust up a little and there will be little snow blowing drifts onto the highways. WIND...

    State Pen

I understand it is exactly as what KDM posts. Jail is worse than prison, other than a shorter stay behind bars. In prison life is actually pretty decent and the days are less torturous on the mind. Spending one year in a jail is much worse. I would've thunk it differently but I guess there...

Iditarod 2019 sled dog race to Nome Alaska

Never looked at the leader board before yesterday. Interesting! I also looked for any entries from ND. NOPE. I recognized Jessie Holmes' name as he is on the reality tv series Life Below Zero on the Discovery Network. Yesterday he was in 20th position, but this morning he jumped up to...

What is your best baked walleye recipe

A recipe I remember from the Dakota Country magazine that might help you with reduced fat- and pretty darn simple: Italian Walleye Place a few seasoned filet on a greased baking pan Pour on Rague/Prego over the top of the filet Bake at 350* for 35min Pull pan out and sprinkle shredded parmesan...

    Frozen in Ice Castle ideas?

Hopefully, your friend was smart enough to block the house up on wood before leaving it sit. Right? If so, then just getting that bottom area chipped out. Forget about the amount of ice on the interior. Like Allen said, use the water pressure to melt the ice with 3/4" hose and a nozzle added...

Hunting & fishing combo day... is North Dakota the best?

I bet there are LOTS of states where hunting & fishing are abundant. Maybe they don't have moose or rams, but they would have other species as game where ND does not. I'm looking at some lakefront property down in the SE of the U.S. and what I see there is appealing. Not only can I get much...

    February Cold

Snow, no big deal. WIND and COLD equates to a number of crappy days. I can start up a snowblower and move snow. However, there's not much else one can do when it's -20 degrees and have a 'breezy' day of 18mph winds that gust to 28mph. Now I'm serious about looking at lake properties down...

    Dog Nails

I've done my dog's nails a number of times each year. It does work better when weather is cooperative and I sit out on the driveway with the Dremel (grinder wheel) and trim them up. My dog knows what is going on and just comes and lays down between my legs. He does it like this because he...

New police tactical machine coming to bismarck

You know, on one hand we talking about the expense of the thing and how it's not necessary around here. But, the item will be used/offered for all police departments in the state that would require its use, not just in the city limits of Bismarck. On the other hand, look what our government is...

    NFL News (Vikings)

Antonio Brown will just be another Randy Moss.... lots of talk, hype, and express his disapproval for any play that doesn't include him. There's a reason the Steelers are looking elsewhere. They don't like those kind of players. Same things happened to Plaxico Burress (NY Jets), Emanuel...

    Red Platoon - must read

Read the book and have a signed copy from Mr. Romesha. It's also one of my recommended reads for military books in another thread. Shit was hitting the fan and somehow a number of them made it out of there.

Possibly an end to DUI Checkpoints.

You are correct. The funding usually comes from federal grant dollars and are used for OT hours for crew that would like to gather in extra dough. The normal schedule of folks patrolling are not affected by a checkpoint unless they are stationed a mile away to catch anyone doing a turn around...

best place to buy lawrance or humming bird depth finders

Boat show this weekend in Bismarck. I bought my units two years ago and saved a few hundred $$. Best time to buy is right now because all of the new technology advancements in next year's model will come out this summer.

    Small CPAP for traveling?

I thought I needed a travel CPAP also until the representative at the VA told me my machine can split in 1/2 if I do not require the water reservoir. I don't. So, I popped a couple of hinges and the damn thing actually breaks down into two separate pieces. I can now pack this Phillips...

Question for Military Vets Past and Present on MWR Dogs

Seems like a good idea, but also costly. MWR runs off of non-appropriated funds (income from bowling fees, rentals, green fees at the golf courses, etc.). None of their money comes from appropriated funds by the federal government. SO, in order to hire more staff at an MWR center they would...

    No Trespass Law

Obi, call the State Land Department and let them know the leasee's name. The department will contact that person and let them know he cannot dictate anything as he doesn't own it. They will make it very clear to him.

    Time Shares

I'd rather go where I want, when I want, and the price at the time.... compared to paying a fee every month and then realizing I've already put it $5k and now it's time to spend a week somewhere. We fly there and the room isn't much better than a Holiday Inn hotel room. -Meh- Mexico next week...

    Good bye pheasants

No, that map was pretty spot-on for Bismarck. It jumped quickly at 1pm from 12-degrees to 38-degrees just before 4pm. Rained twice @ 4pm and again before 6pm. Then the winds kicked up and the temp dropped to 10-degrees by 9pm. POOF, the system was gone.
