    Damn that's allot of snow.

Tell me again exactly what species of beetle it is that chew the face off a Deer again? I've seen packs strip a deer in 48 hours let alone four months of God knows what chewing on it! Your telling me you've never found a skull like this in the spring? This thing isn't unusual in the...

    Damn that's allot of snow.

Theres more bones and hide but they are off shot to the right down in the hole. Would guess he got hit pretty good by the yotes sometime after the first storm but it would have had to be about a week because I checked back once the roads reopened hoping if nothing else some yotes would have...

Well this is going to get interesting

It's not technically flowing yet but the line through ND is filled. Saw a plane doing a low run up the line so I'm guessing they were doing a safty check.

    Damn that's allot of snow.

Actually they have no say in the matter since it's a rez deer so falls outside their jurisdiction just as it would if it came from another state.

Well this is going to get interesting

Well I wish my mom would have had the Corps definition of cleaned up when I was growing up. They may have gotten rid of most of it but it's still a fucking disaster down there. You can literally tell your near the camp a half mile out due to all the trash in the trees and ditch. Looking across...

    Damn that's allot of snow.

Well I wasn't exactly expecting him to go all prairie dog on me and dive down a hole. It didn't occurre to me that it was even a possibility till a few days later and by that point the draw was burried in snow.

There were a few in the finger draw when I went in.

    Damn that's allot of snow.

Seen some big drifts in my time but can't say I've ever seen them so big they knock all the trees and brush down. Was down looking for a deer I lost last fall the day before the first big storm which turned out to be exactly where I thought he was but he fell into a fliping hole created by an...

ND G&F to introduce Ptarmigan along ND/CA border

Hell you never know might able to make it work there's quite a few where I lived in CO. Probably have to switch it away from willows though. Definitely a more believable story then the kangaroos.

Biggest Turtle you see in the North Dakota

That boy definitely has the right look to him. There is something about the real big ones that just looks different...the shell isn't all that much bigger but they seem almost flatter and have allot more exposed flesh on the legs and neck area. It's sorta like seeing a 180 class buck in that the...

Biggest Turtle you see in the North Dakota

Was at the folks place and had the biggest snapping turtle come by I've ever seen in ND. He was the better part of three feet from nose to tail when he stuck his neck out. Pic isn't very good but gives an idea of size.....he's the big Rock with his head stuck out a bit on the lower left. His...

    River Water Clarity

Yeah its murky but certainly not overly bad compared to what it could be. Fish will get used to it and keep on feeding up for spawn. it's just going to be a touch harder for them to spot the bait compared to three foot vis.

    River Water Clarity

For starters it's murky but certainly not chocolate milk either. Was down at Apple creek bottoms yesterday and the creek was definitely up a few feet and until the creeks get done dumping it's going to stay cloudy. Nothing else get above the majority of the creeks and rivers and that should...

    Open water near Minot

Hell it might be quicker then that I guess. The lake my folks are on has decided today is a good day to start the breakup. Unfortunately did spot a four pound small mouth dead so hope that's not a sign of a real die off.

    Open water near Minot

Lakes will be busting up big time by the end of this weekend into early next week so best to wait for some of the safer lakes to open or head for nelson just watch out she's shallow on her south and west side.

    wildlife winterkill?

Yeah that area really got especially hard hit by snow this year and even a couple days ago when everywhere else around bismarck was long since clear they were still working on their pile. So it's not surprising that there is some dead critters to go along with how bad it was there.

    wildlife winterkill?

Well the big boys and the kids are normally the first to go in a bad winters. If they don't get a chance to recuperate after rut it can get pretty rough on those old boys.

    wildlife winterkill?

Here's hoping that that January/February thaw we had was enough to save most of them. Sure would be nice to get the benefits of a snowy winter without all the negatives for once.
