    Good wolf medicine?

When I was in bear camp a few years back a guy shot a younger black bear. Not sure of weight..maybe 100-125lbs? He killed it with a .300. Not sure round either but it left so much damage from exit hole the pelt was useless.

    Good wolf medicine?

I agree with 270 and 130g bullet. I have pals that have been up there hunting over bait. Said wolves are fairly tough. My reasoning is always that if I am paying for a hunt..I want odds stacked in favor of knocking down animal with minimal tracking etc. Put them down, worry about pelt later...

    Unexpected "Icks"

Back in my sinful days me the boys would go down to the local well and would chew like rats and drink like pirates on shore leave. There have been many a times that i'd be sitting with two bottles in my hands. One for drinkin and one for spittin. Sooner or later they'd get about even. I would...

243 or 308 "reduced recoil" for youth

I vote .243. That is now what my son (12) shoots. I believe it forces me to teach him correctly. Meaning I want to expose him to good ethical shots. Closer shots, Trying to keep shots within 225 yds or less. 243 is excellent for that range with minimal kick. Heck I started him at 10 with a...

    Coyotes

in the northeast part of SD where I live there WAS a large population of yotes a few years back. They got so bad and were causing some kerfuffles with farmers etc that state trappers came in and trapped and flew a few areas. They dang near whipped them out in this area.(starting to come back)...

That's really interesting video. That wolf was relentless. I see how deer don't stand a chance.

    Dog blind for field hunting?

Like I said and a couple others. Your dog doesn't need anything. Just teach it to lay still- period. A state trapper once told me that when he flies he can pick out goose hunter blinds no problem. Said they are usually camouflaged up well but he can pick out profile rather easy. Hence..birds...

    Dog blind for field hunting?

I kill quite a few geese each year too. I have never used a dog blind. Just another thing to conceal I guess which is hard enough with our blinds. What stands out most with blinds is profile. My dogs lay right next to my blind and I have a few dekes placed around them to break up outline. If...

    270 vs. 30-06

You killed a brown bear with a .270? Details please. How far a shot, round used, size of bear etc?

    270 vs. 30-06

.270 for me. Have read too many articles from "experts" saying .270 is probably best all around gun etc. With the right rounds they are fast and flat. That's what i like about them. Have 2 and have never had an issue killing deer or a bear. Going to use it on a cow elk in a month. I have...

    Dog proof coon traps

I caught a whole family of baby skunks one time. Had several set in a well used coon area. That sucked! Full grown skunks aren't suppose to be able to reach in but baby ones are kind like ferrets. They slink in.

    Tundra Owners

what kind of hiway miles do you get? Say 65-70 mph?

    Tundra Owners

With the less weight it does get very good mileage as well. 22-23 while cruise set at 70. They are now 6 speeds and has about 60 more horse than my '11. Pulls my boat like a champ. So give and take I guess.

    Tundra Owners

how is the body on the tundra? This summer I bought a '14 silverado. Had only 8k miles. Super nice pickup but...comes with 4 ply tires and the body is junk. The sheet metal spread so thin that any little bump will dent it.

Appendix decided to put a kibosh on my hunting and fishing

6 yrs ago I woke up with severe pain in side. Threw up, had fever etc. Went to ER. Told me I had the flu. So for the next 2-3 wks I had a low grade fever, pain and general feeling like sh!t. I finally went back to dr. Was a woman. She pushed around on stomach and didn't bother me so she...
