Where do you think the line is with electronics?

I have helix's on my boat and although they are cool and the mapping is definitely great, i still have just as much or more fun jigging with a 20 year old Vexilar on the ice, or seeing trout pick a fly of the surface of a mountain stream.

    There's Never Enough

I think one of the most important things is to live within your means and get yourself into a financially sound position so you actually have options as far as work/life balance. To many people get too focused on the big house, new vehicles, boats, camper, motorcycle etc., that they literally...

Bismarck: I look down at the ground when people ask me where I am from

Ah yes, not just building on the flood plain, but building 8' basements in the floodplain. I'm sure that's the corps fault too, right Obi? People are still putting basements in new builds right on the river ;:;banghead

    Missouri River rise

^ Exactly! I'm amazed at the people that think 2011 wont happen again, hell it wasn't even a worse case scenario. Just when we think we have seen everything mother nature can throw at us, she is sure to show us how wrong we are. The weather isn't getting any less severe on this planet! Its not...

Malacca Gin is back just in time for summer

Personally i like gin because of the Juniper punch (Tanqueray), IMO a lot of these other gins get to damn fancy and it starts to taste like perfume. Having said that, the Hendricks above is pretty damn good for those who like a little less juniper.

    Missouri River rise

They are going to be upping the outflows to 44,000cfs soon, so the Mo will be getting even higher. I think those are the third highest outflows behind 2011, and 1997. The higher water on Oahe should hopefully help the walleye and crappie, as long as all the bait fish don't get flushed through...

    Sakakawea water level?

Not to be a Debbie Downer but there is about a 99.9% chance the lake rises another 2-3’ or more yet. I’d be moving camp this weekend if I was you.

    Natives gill netting~

I don't think anybody has a problem with fishing and hunting for personal subsistence, its when your netting hundreds of thousands or even millions of pounds of fish for the commercial market and watching a lake collapse that it becomes an issue.

    Natives gill netting~

To a certain extent, but Sak is subject to much larger water fluctuations i would have to believe? In Sak water level is everything and yet even at historic lows the fishing was very good at times. We have never seen a collapse that required extreme measures have we? Not in my lifetime.

    Natives gill netting~

Why is it you never seem to hear of major walleye fisheries that don't have commercial fishing collapsing, yet we have seen it time and time again in fisheries that are subject to commercial netting? We've seen it at Red lake, Mille lacs, and soon to be Winnipeg. Yet in a place like ND with no...

    Fishing access fenced off...

Because the Desert is a designated ATV area. There are plenty of sandbars that are off limits.

    Natives gill netting~

On a side note, i like to encourage anybody i know to never order walleye at a restaurant, or buy it at a supermarket. Without a market for the fish there is no need to net it. Just tell them that most of the Walleye on the US market (around 70% I believe) comes from Lake Winnipeg which is...

    Natives gill netting~

I don't think there is any legal netting of game fish in ND or am i wrong? I know there was a net snagged and pulled up last year by some fisherman though, with a bunch of walleye.

Just make it about a $500 fine for riding off trail or in restricted areas.

    Non-resident fishing license

The states east of us are all right around $50, the states west of us are all right around $100. i say we split the difference and go to $75:) Most states you can buy by the day as well, I'm going to ID this summer for 4 days and the license is only like $35. I'm pretty sure my Manitoba license...
