    Pike tip up baits

Smelt from the tailrace that has been prepared and frozen fresh in a vacuum bag works 5 times better than any store bought smelt. They smell fresh and clean like candy watermelon after you thaw them out and they don't fall apart or get mushy. also produce waaaay more fish.

    Salamanders for Catfish

Larval salamanders might work ok, but the adults secrete a toxin that makes them taste/smell bad. Best catfish bait is a half frozen smelt on a circle hook, or gizzard shad guts.

    Snake gaiters

Just about any boot is snake proof, snake teeth are sharp, but don't have much pressure to drive them through much more than skin. I just wear my sneakers when out collecting snakes, havn't had a rattler puncture them yet.

    Sakakawea salmon??

Ive done it, it works. Line counter and a jigging spoon. Also used bobbers above spoons on windy days from shore, the waves jig the spoon up and down.

Don't hit your friend with a catfish.

Dam! that looks like a hardhead cat. Its a saltwater specie that's really venomous, I guarantee she ended up in the hospital a few hours later, and I bet that wound took months to heal.

    Strangest thing you've ever caught...

Caught a hardhat in the gulf covered in oil sludge during that BP Deepwater Horizon disaster that had an angler fish in it. I didnt think about it till later, the chance that hard hat may have belonged to one of the rig wokers in the explosion.

    Eating Drum from the Red

The only ones I have ever eaten were from the tailrace out of clear 40 to 55 degree water, and I prefer the drum to walleye or perch.
