    side benefit

If you have a gas engine mower/what-ever rig it so you can hook up a radiator hose to the exhaust and poke it into one of the gopher holes and pack dirt around the hose so the exhaust fumes go throughout the tunnel complex. Turn the mower off an hour later and end of gopher problem and you do...

    sunday storms~~~

Monday early morning (just after midnight) storm at Metigoshe. Looked like it could be a doozie on the way in ... proved to be true for a few minutes. I stayed up and when it came in the wind blew HARD. Tipped my neighbors steel dock over and his pontoon is almost up to mine - but not quite...

    Fined for shed hunting

When we were in Rock Springs, Wy in the early 70's I seem to remember that the area north of Jackson where elk were fed over the winter the sheds were reserved for the Boy Scouts to collect and sell to raise $$$ for the Scouts. Don't know if that was where he was or not. Penalty does seem...

I speared many a saltwater sheepshead that looked like this while diving off the California coast. This is not me just a pic from the interweb.

    Amazing!!

Most commercial salmon fishermen on the west coast bleed the salmon they catch, not so much for the taste but to extend the fresh shelf life of the fish in order to get it to market and sold before it needs to be frozen. The blood decays first ... less blood, less decay. That's what I was told.

Leaving Drain Plug out until you're at the Ramp

Same with me. I'm not subject to the ANS crap because I only launch/load in the Pacific Ocean in northern CA. When we load after fishing/crabbing/diving I drive onto the trailer. One guy hooks the boat up and tightens the web belt. Then the boat is pulled out of the water and the bilge plug...

    Moles

I got rid of mine in Texas many years ago by hooking a used radiator hose to the exhaust pipe on my mower and poking it into the gopher hole. Tamp dirt around the hose and let the mower run for an hour or so ... all gophers/moles go to sleep permanently. No poison to be concerned about.

    Wildlife

Wife and I were out on the 'toon the other night and saw 2 pair of Canada geese and their new broods. One pair had 6 and the other pair had 12. We are very close in a narrow pass into a cove so this is the best she could get.

Retractable shower door for travel trailer

We have an older Wildwood trailer with a neo-angle shower with a swinging door. No shower door should go to the ceiling because you would have to leave the door open to allow the steam/vapor to escape so that you wouldn't have mold growth. I cannot imagine how a curtain could make a good seal...

Ever been shocked by Your grahite rod?

I was told a long time ago if I was out in a boat fishing on a lake and could see lightning or hear thunder, then I was close enough to get struck by lightning. The last place you want to be is in a boat with a graphite lightning rod in your hand and be the tallest structure around! DUMB...

    Weather

40 degrees at Lake Metigoshe at 10:00 am today ... warmed all the way up to 43 by 4:00 pm and then back to 40 by 8:00 pm. Not much boat activity on the Lake! If we had had these temps on Friday, the half inch of rain we had would have been 6" of SNOW! I'll fish when I don't need longjohns and...
