We always do that and then take a box fan and blow air up into the cavity. Helps cool it down a lot quicker.
The blowing air may dry out that exposed meat a little more quickly but like others have posted you can filet off that thin outer layer fairly quickly.

I have only done fall hunts one year and had shooting 2 mornings in a row at the same flock coming to the same food plot.
The first morning you could hear them coming -- clucking all the way. The next morning they came again, but there was nary...

In Canada (NE Ontario) back in the 80's we did a flyin and we hit the walleye feed just right.
One evening I caught a walleye on each of 10 consecutive casts -- small jig tipped with a minnow.
(Not the same walleye .. ha.) They weren't monsters -- around 16-18" fish.
It was hard to go...

Listen to your elders . . . they are trying to tell you something important. :)
Fully charge before putting away, remove and put inside (basement ?), don't put on the concrete floor.
May be overkill putting them inside. But why not?
