    Because that fast of a twist would limit the number of bullet choices for some rifles. The fast twist barrels are best suited to high g7 bc bullets. Those long bullets touch the barrel less and require a faster twist to stabilize their flight.

    Guy all of your mods and fabrications are gold! Very impressive! That 4 wheeler cab is awesome as well. The heat from the motor might help a little in the cab too.

    I have found that eskimo and tanaka poweheads are the best for starting in the cold. They also have high rpm's for fast drilling. Couple one of those powerheads with a kluge drill and you will have a setup that is fast and reliable. The cheapest route is the eskimo z51 and a kluge 8.5 inch...

    From what i have read 1:9 is recommended twist rate for the 105 amax. I havent tried them in my ruger .243. I think i have a 1:9 twist but not sure.

    I have a .22-250 with a 1:8 twist 24 inch barrel for stabilizing the long bullets. That gun with a 75 grain amax is a long range monster.

    I was all in on getting a .280 nosler built until i realized the need for a heavy long barrel to get the massive speed gains. 28 inch barrels are heavy, long, and the rifle doesnt balance worth a shit. I can see using them for a long range bench gun though. - - - Updated - - - Take it easy...
