    2,4-D dilution?

I use a 2.5 gallon backpack sprayer and generally put in 3/4 cup (6 ounces) of the higher concentration ag formulation of 2-4D. It tends to kill whatever I want gone. The harder things to kill, like thistles, absinthe wormwood, and baby's breath get some help from either tordon or MSM...

The guy is not very well connected with reality. Desalination is a great tool in the providing of fresh water to people, but last time I checked Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming are too damn far from an ocean to provide drinking water. What is one going to do, pump water from...

Oil wells converted to fresh water wells

This, as the hydrogeologist on a few wells, this was always my recommended way to go. Pumping rates are as noted above a little conservative by nature, but Johnson has designing a screen and pack combo down to a science. - - - Updated - - - p.s. We need to draft wjschmaltz back to ND so he...

While I can understand and sympathize with the idiot, the bottom line is U.S. Federal Marshalls, the FBI, and local law enforcement take a very dim view of dynamiting federal projects. And let's not forget that a coalition of Califukyourself and other states in the desert southwest are...

Oil wells converted to fresh water wells

TFX, FWIW, if the problem with the well is indeed the gravel pack and/or screen that is failing, you can certainly drill another well right in the exact same area, within a few feet even. Heck, if the casing is PVC, you could simply drill that right out and set the well at the exact same...

Oil wells converted to fresh water wells

TFX, send me a PM with the location of this well, in township, range, and section. Unless your well was an undocumented immigrant, I should be able to find the well log. Maybe it will give me a little more insight as to the geology you're dealing with on the well's performance. Or, if you'd...

Oil wells converted to fresh water wells

TFX, In order to lead you to what's most likely the problem here, let me as a geologist give you some things to think about. Maybe 10 years ago I was reading some frac'ing reports on wells in ND, I believe they were Whiting wells. Anyway, Whiting installed sensors to detect the distance away...

Oil wells converted to fresh water wells

Are these school sections that are to be getting water wells funded by the taxpayer, or are they private land? I guess they could also be federal, but I know there's been efforts already over the years to get water to federal tracts of land out west.

I think the biggest problem the alphabet soup generation has are those who need to seek affirmation. As some have noted, most just want to live their life. I tend to get along well with people like that regardless of their sexual preferences. There used to be a few gay people who hung out at...

So the Cliff Notes version of NAWS and the Red River Valley Water Supply Project. NAWS is a federally sponsored project being funded through the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Because of the treaty between Canada and the U.S. and the funding source being federal, there is indeed a requirement of...

The naming of that stream that starts in Saskatchewan, winds its way through ND and then goes back up into Manitoba is kinda interesting. ND wanted to mark its territory by naming the river the Mouse in the state constitution. However, federally it is referred to as the Souris River and is...

Actually, yes...it would be a canal to get water into the Colorado River. The pumps to get water over the hills and into California can be found at Lake Havasu just above Parker Dam. Have you never noticed Snake Creek Pumping Plant right here in ND? If I remember correctly it's around 2,000 cfs.
