Technology in the outdoors- where is the line?

Regarding hunting big-game, IMO, the LRF becoming small and affordable is the most significant "outdoor" development since ammunition was put into brass cases. The LRF has exponentially increased lethality of every hunter who uses them. The ubiquitous LRF has spawned a great deal of...

I got wood! Need custom stock built

With a manual stock duplicator they can have the basic shape and action inlet 95%-97% done in a few hours. CNC controlled milling equipment is even faster, but, it takes a craftsman/woman for that last 3%-5%. That last 3%-5% can take a week, a month, or more depending upon how ornate you want...

Right hand shooter left eye dominate

Won't effect much shooting with a scope, but you're slower than someone who shoots the same "handed" as their eye dominance because their hands/eyes work together better. Shotgunning birds is where cross-dominance can be problematic. Closing your off-eye even if you're shooting with your...

How to preserve hunting when all land is posted

You say that as though we're supposed to think that all the other states are correct and we're wrong?

Right hand shooter left eye dominate

No, I don't voluntarily give up 50% of my FOV and a goodly portion of my depth perception on purpose. Nor do I relinquish a goodly share of my hand-eye coordination by purposefully eliminating 50% of the vision portion of that equation.

I got wood! Need custom stock built

Any "gunsmith" who doesn't recognize a 721 by the bolt, bolt handle, and/or bolt shroud certainly ought not be let loose near one with any manner of tools. That, and, they say 721 right on the side of the action!!!

Nightforce IHR w/corresponding MOA dials. I wish the Nightforce MOAR was 2MOA sub tensions instead of 1MOA, it gets a little busy @ 10X. 20X and higher the 1MOA is fine.

    Triggers

I adjust factory triggers for the most part. I do have Timney and Shilen in a couple of target rifles. I’ve worked with Rifle Basix triggers that others own. The Shilen is my favorite aftermarket trigger.

Any post-64 M70 stock should fit your 770. If you source a hinged floor-plate/trigger-guard then you could use a stock inletted for same. The blind magazine limits your choices as there just weren't a lot of M70's that came that way. There was a run of Walmart M70's that had a blind bottom...

Pass me a ghost-ring rear, you can keep your notch and BB. SO much easier to gun open sights w/both eyes open when gunning an aperture rear very close to your eyes vs. a notch well ahead of them. Shooting with one eye closed is for people who didn't have a parent teach them to shoot the hand...

That doesn’t mean they don’t bring a lot more in central MN. Lots more 243’s than 22-250’s as well. Where else can you find racks FULL of Savage 99’s, Browong T-Bolt, Trombones, Safaris, and Superposed? Win 21’s, 23’s, 24’s, 12’s, 66, 73, 86, 70’s, 92’s, 94’s? How about thousands of boxes of...

They’re like every other shop, some stuff you can’t get your $$ out quick enough, some stuff you scratch your head. The 788 being an early American bolt action with a removable magazine (clip) has a strong following in the land of gun cases and empty internal mags. Lots of nostalgia for the...

Given that the 6.5CreedMoor is based upon the 250 Savage case, I wonder how the 'ol 99 might sell if re-introduced in 6.5 CreedMoor??

I sold 2 or 3 of the 1999 Centennial commemorative models when I was still working @ a gun shop in college. IIRC they were $1700-$1800 and in great demand. One can still find the birch-stocked models in 243 or 308 for ~$600ish. Jiffy, imagine obtaining a '99 in 284Win and stoking it...

I'd much prefer a Savage 99, BLR, or Marlin pretty much in that order. Actually, if I HAD to use a lever or REALLY got the itch I'd probably find myself a Sako FinnWolf or would slum a Win 88. I won a Henry 22LR 4-5yrs ago that hasn't made it out of the box yet..........

    Shop/Man Cave/Trophy Room Planning

Lots of outlets along the wall @ 54"-60" off the floor. Put them @ 48" and 4' tall stuff still covers them. Put multiple outlets in the ceiling as well and get some drop-down reel extension cords, it's nice not to have to trip on cords. If you're using a design program from Lowes, Home Depot...
