    I would try and stay in the weeds a lot of the sloughs I fish are not much deeper than 12 feet.

    As far as fishing out of the boat the end of august. With goose season and bow hunting I don't have time to get the boat out. Never stopped me from taking a quick trip to the river tho. My oldest kids last day of summer is today he starts school tomorrow.

    I have no problem setting up on 40 birds if I'm by myself. A lot of times u will get enough traffic birds to come over on top of the ones that were in the field.
