He was released some time ago I think. There is no "loss cutting" in baseball. All the money is guaranteed. You cut a guy, you're still paying for him.
It was Nishioka and I didn't like that move from the beginning. Nishioka was 160lbs soaking wet and about 5'8". This guy is fairly big dude, 6'1", 195lbs and won't be subject to a double play breakup hard slide.

As far as I know, that is being staged for the Dakota Access Pipeline, which is also currently held up. The pipeline is supposed to originate in Stanley, go west to Williston, turn south to Dickinson and then its a straight shot to Illinois.
