If you ever get a chance to tour Normandy, do it! You will never forget the experience, especially if you've spent time in a branch of service yourself.

    Montana poacher banned for life

Personally, I feel sorry for the schmuck. He made some very bad decisions and will forever be judged by them regardless of whatever else he may have been doing right in his life. This is exactly the kind of stuff I like to show my kids. It would seem that no matter what other good you may do...

    MPG towing the boat

FWIW, my 4Runner that rarely pulls is averaging 16.9 mpg with a man behind the wheel. Yeah, I'm rarely left in the dust when the light turns green, but that's not market average at all for a vehicle of that size. It will get 20.5 on the highway at something slightly above recommended speed...

    MPG towing the boat

I've used my 4Runner for pulling my 1750 Lund, which is probably just over 3k loaded on the trailer. Granted, while my primary boat tow rig is an F250 and I can forget the boat is even behind it on long trips, the few times I've used the Toyota to tow the boat I thought it was a little light...

    Montana poacher banned for life

I don't know him, but I bet there are those that do and really like(d) him even though their own conscience forces them to now ask "what the hell were you thinking". People that embrace bad decisions walk among us on a daily basis. Yet we don't dislike them until they are caught. Personally...

    Devils Lake Level Dilemma

Almost, but it was pre-Red River of the North existence when the Missouri River turned north just west of Williston and went on up into Canada. The glaciers are what changed the path of the Missouri into a southern draining river. They kind of reset many of our geologic features.

    MPG towing the boat

It's not just a Tundra thing, it's a Toyota thing. I drive a 4Runner as my kid hauler and it's fuel efficiency is below that of the equivalent GM and Ford options. Its dependability has been excellent though, a little over 60k miles in 4 years and she's not seen the shop for anything other...

    MPG towing the boat

I think the "glass is half full" crew remember the mileage better on days they had a good tailwind; whereas the "glass is half empty" guys remember the days where they pull a sail into our gentle breezes.

    Moles

I don't know if it's moles, voles, deer mice, meadow jumping mouse, or squirrels, but I am getting really fricking tired of varmints eating the damn wiring of my stuff. Couple years ago the damn UTV had some wires chewed off, and now my trap thrower has had the power cord stripped off its...

    MPG towing the boat

09 F250 with the 6.4L, unchipped. 12.8 mpg pulling boat, no matter the conditions, about 12 even pulling the pontoon, but have seen it as low as about 11 mpg in the wind and at higher than recommended speeds.

    Wildlife

Yep, been seeing more does out and about in the afternoon lately, most likely out on their milk runs to the young'uns. My resident geese hatched out about 3 weeks ago. I'm thinking the fox has claimed a meal or two though, we're down a few goslings.

    Line counters

After running my Daiwa reels most of the past couple weeks, I grabbed a rod out of my collection with a Scheels (Okuma made) reel of the same size, etc for today's outing. No fugging comparison, the Scheels reel annoyed me most of the damn day as the kids used the Daiwa reels. F&ck Okuma. I...

    Lost wheel- Please Help!

I lost a rear wheel on a 1979 pickup one time. That sucker went well over a mile and a half through the Missouri Breaks east of Williston. Ended up finding it only by luck, and had to roll the SOB a half mile up through a rough pasture. Before it found it's resting place it had gone through a...

    lake sak @ newtown

I'd head north and fish the Little Knife Bay area, Beacon Island, and all the points north of the bridge on the east side. Start in about 10-12 ft of water but be sure to venture over into 6-7 ft of water often to find out where they are foraging.
