Just got done packing for a hunt actually. Surely you can see my drink of choice. There is also a bottle of bourbon buried in there somewhere. But the Lag is king!!
This was a rather quick purchase so I just went with the point and shoot because I felt I would use it more. My bro has a DSLR that he has packed elk hunting and it hardly ever made it out of the pack, and now hardly ever makes the trip. If I get good at it I will drop the coin for a better set...
Since I struggle to punch tags I'm looking to up my game in the photography department so as to not come home feeling so empty handed all the time. I got a Sony RX100 IV inbound and leaving Friday for a mulie hunt. If nothing else, I'm going to end up with a shit ton of pictures and a hangover...
I went with L for SLC 10x42. Brother had to go XL for Bushnell 10x42 Fusions. I almost wish I went XL and my binos are small. I would sacrifice a little wobble for easier 1 handed use.
With 50mm EL, XL no doubt.
Upon actual field use, i can confirm the Kuiu is the best harness I've tried so far. I got enough man boob to hold them in place as I pull the bino out. It is a 1 hand operation for me to get them out and in.
I'm in the search too. I normally don't give a crap about babying my stuff and rock the Rick Young harness with no protection, unless it has 1 of 3 names on it. So I've tried the FHF and hated that thing. Like you say, pretty much a pack on your chest. Way too big. The last couple nights I have...
That sucks Terry, i was wondering how you made out. You, me and most others would've put that second bullet into him. It was the right call I think, just bad luck.... Looks like a nice place to get away for a bit anyways.
Look bckhntr I wasn't trying to put you on the defensive, as most all of my questions were rhetorical and i didn't need you to answer them. I should have stated that, as I trust a man that builds his own stabilizer knows his way around a bow ;)
I know we agree there are a lot of factors to...
Hey I agree with you a tuned bow is crucial.
So with that said, I never said anything about adjusting sights or BH/FP POI....Practice how you hunt was the point I was making. A 4" 5 arrow FP group at 60, shooting from a comfortable standing position, at highlighted vitals on a square target...
Screw group shooting with FP's. You want real practice, and build confidence, unscrew the FP, screw on the BH and go shoot one arrow from various field positions at different yardages. Kill shots, or not... My bows haven't seen a field point in about a month now. Practice how you hunt. Now...
On my 3rd year with Bikini frame and DT1. No elk blood in it yet (hopefully this year), but has hauled some deer, and lots of camps. Money well spent without a doubt. FWIW Kifaru just released a new frame so you can pick up the old Duplex and Bikini frames on the cheap. If you want to go with...
Sept in the mountains of MT you will generally be fine with a Coleman Extreme holding ice for as long as you need. If you're hunting the breaks or lower elevations you may need to top her off after you get meat in there but that's no big deal... Pre chill coolers, and freeze anything you can...
That, this thread, and many other examples in recent years is why waterfowl hunting has turned gayer then a bag of dicks. Its really unfortunate as i used to enjoy the hell out of it..
I'm not fussy with wood. Its all good. As far as when to rub I guess I'm different in that I rub my meat pretty much as the smoker is warming up. I have had stuff almost "cure" on me before doing it 12-24 hours in advance.
Meat only takes smoke for so long then you're wasting wood. If you...
That's news to me too. My Swaro eye piece stays the same power regardless of body objective.... As far as switching bodies with the same eye piece I see no problem with that in fact Swaro markets their newer spotters for that purpose.
