    DIY Alaska Caribou

We are flying, but have family in Anchorage with the gear to use. We are hunting higher elevation, but packing xtra tuffs and leather hunting boots, hip waders as a backup for stream crossings. Travel is not a concern, have 2 spare tires, extra fuel tank in the bed of the truck to fill atvs, etc.

    DIY Alaska Caribou

I'm headed to Alaska for a DIY caribou hunt in September. I'm not new to the Alaska hunting game, but am new to interior Alaska hunting. I have hunted in SE Alaska prior. We are doing a 5 day, atv/pack in trip. For anyone who has hunted interior Alaska, what are some must have items? I'm sure...

    New caliber recommendations

I have spent the better part of a week deciding on a new rifle for me. Looking at Ballistic Coefficient, Sectional Density, and ft lbs of energy per velocity and I think you made the right choice. As i said earlier in this post that I was debating about getting a 6.5-300, but those that I have...

    New caliber recommendations

The only concern I have with the 6.5-300 is the weatherby vanguard feels cheap compared to other rifles in that price range. I can not justify the cost of a mark v when compared to the price of some custom rifles.

    New caliber recommendations

I was heavily looking at a 6.5 x 300 Weatherby as my next rifle, But the 6.5PRC is a close second in my opinion. I own a 270wsm and really like it, but the long range ballistics of the 6.5 are where I'm leaning. For out to 500, all options will work as intended. I would lean toward the PRC for...

    Knives for Deer Processing

I also use some older Chicago Cutlery knives that I inherited and a good fillet knife. A bone saw is use full if you like to keep the ribs intact. I'm one of the few that keep the ribs together and not debone them.

    knives

I would also agree that Wustof are my favorite. I have the Chefs, both sizes of the Santoku, the steak knives, boning knife, and the fillet knife. Hold an edge really well and easy to sharpen.

    ecobust question

My shop replaces quite a few turbos on the 3.5. We have done up to the 2016 model year. I would buy a 5.0, but that is my opinion.

    Don't go down this road......

For future reference....2 cans of sea foam in a tank of gas. When tank is low, start engine and get it to about 165 degrees. Remove coils and use a 3/8 impact to break them loose. I very rarely brake them off anymore and my shop does about a set a week.
