A thermo cell helps alot for the bugs, just put it in the boat upwind of you. Second, alot of bug spray! I put on latex or rubber exam gloves before I touch cranks or baits after coating in bug spray. I will have to try running shallow. Thanks for the tip!
Yes quite often in blue plate land. Don't have to deal with pleasure boaters...... I find that large flats and shallow running cranks work best. Color is based off of moon phase (full moon or bright night = darker colors). I also painted some cranks black that work well with a bright night. I...

Never fished salmon in ND, but would assume that any tactics or tackle should be the same. Flashers, cow bells, cranks, spoons, etc. should all work. I would try to match the bait and expand from there.
I have a Benjamin pcp air rifle. I have a maurder. You may want to look into a pcp air rifle. No pumping, fast reloads, and multiple calibers. I have the .22 cal.
I have an elite 9ti w/ fish reveal and I don't see much of a difference. It overlays 2d over down imaging. I don't really see anything more than I did before running split screen. Some people love it though. I also run a helix with mega for side scan and mapping. Between the 2, I like the Helix.
