    Tools on the boat

I'm too lazy to read thru prior posts, but has anyone mentioned a jaw spreader yet? Idk how many god damn times I've had a pike in the bottom of the boat with it's jaws locked up on a 9 dollar crankbait, Tangled in the net, that I can't begin to unfuck because the bastard won't open it's mouth.

    Fish scents and attractants

What's your opinions, experiences, favorite brand fish attractants. Looking to try some new ones on cranks n jigs. I can't seem to find one thats better than the other, and fairly confident they're more of a confidence booster for me, vs the fish.

    Sak Salmon

Fish the garrison dam area, from government bay to the marina at sakakawea state park. You can catch them shallow through the spring until the water warms up and they go deep. They don't come shallow again till the lake cools and turns over around Labor day weekend in September.

    Whitefish, not bad at all

Depends on who you ask...the pier rats were having a good time shoulder to shoulder with a school of 12-16" walleyes on the walls, the tourists were having a blast trying to get the carp n buffalo they could see to bite, and this pier rat had a good luck catching some nice pike on a big rubber...

    Whitefish, not bad at all

I cleaned one to smoke once, their meat is dark and oily, brownish color. Never did get around to smoking it. I finished off that whitefish tonight, breaded n fried, pretty awesome. I'd say slightly better than walleye, but doesn't matter since I'm lucky to catch one a year.

    Whitefish, not bad at all

Cisco have an under bite or an even bite, whitefish have a definite over bite.

    Whitefish, not bad at all

Casting the tailrace last night I caught a 4-5lb whitefish. I've heard they're really good smoked, so decided to keep it for a taste test. Bled it out right away, got it home and started to fillet. I assumed the meat would be dark and oily, like most popular smoking fish, salmon, mackerel...

    Keeping big pike

I say we ban fishing in North dakota, and allow it again in 20 years, by then every fish we catch will be trophy size. This is literally one of the best pike fisheries in the world right now, but with our rollercoaster water and forage levels, all the morals, laws, and limits in the world...

    Keeping big pike

Mortality rates on pike are nowhere near any sort of level to even think about a slot or a lower limit. They just raised the limit from 3 to 5, and opened spearing to all lakes because there's so many of them. 12 to 18lb pike are not uncommon, and 95% of anglers don't keep or fish for them...
