    Sak Van Hook 6/29-7/2

I fished the 3rd-5th. Didn't have as nice of weather as you, it was WINDY and COLD on the 4th, bordering on comical how cold and windy it was. Nephew has lived in AZ the past 5 years and thought he was gonna die in 56 degree weather out on the water over the 4th. Anyway, fishing was decent...

    Tech schools and college ND

shorts, The grants are not student dependent. That's research money the professors apply for, and receive, to support their research that will eventually lead to their receiving tenure. Or, maybe even the result of past research that still has unanswered questions. Nonetheless, their are no...

    Hail destroys solar farm.

Mind if I ask for a few more details on total of out of pocket expenses, square footage, and if you'd do it again?

Not saying the world doesn't have plenty of idiots at all levels of education, but it would be damn hard for me to ever say that I trust a Facebook trained scientist at the same level as someone who has spent 4-9 years studying the topic under others who have immersed themselves in the...

I have both an undergraduate and graduate degree from the Dept of Geology and Geological Engineering at UND.

1 Wrong. 2. Define what "hydrological discharge" means to you. Evaporative discharge? Loss to groundwater? Loss to streams? 3. Inadequate understanding there of how this works. If it were actually that simple and true, we would eventually be a desert.

    Hail destroys solar farm.

Oddly enough, a lot of the literature suggests a rapid warming would precede the next ice age.

What? That's money brought into the state, not money from the state.

Good grief, now you all are making me almost thankful for MidCo.

I should know better, but I'm going to bite on this one anyway. As a classically trained geologist, I can assure you that climate stability is not necessarily the norm. Put a marker on the ground and I would bet everything I have that the climate for that particular spot has "changed" over the...

    Is this legal?

Only thing I can think is that they are seriously modifying the trailer to have the wheels of the trailer fit in the pickup bed. Kinda reminds me of the scissor lift pontoon trailers.

    Tech schools and college ND

One can argue all they want about all the smaller schools with duplicate programs, but I'm a fan of the bigger research based schools. UND last year brought in 102 million dollars by itself. That is one hell of a positive economic impact on Grand Forks and greater ND. From someone who is even...

    Is this legal?

I don't think this boat used such a device. Where's the trailer axle? A boat/trailer of that size has an axle wider than the bed of a 3/4 ton pickup. At least, every Lund I've ever seen of that size does. The axle should be above the pickup box, but I am just not seeing it.

Well, that's not necessarily a wrong way to look at it.

Am I missing something here? There seems to be a lot of government bashing, but I would assume this is a privately funded operation. Also, so far as I know, neither the federal or state level governments buy insurance. They are self-insured. Seems like we are reaching for something to...

    Live well leak

If you suspect the livewell, here's a quick suggestion to look at the bulkhead fittings in the livewell. The discharge tube (water coming into livewell) has a bulkhead fitting that can come loose. Mine did and I would get water in the hull only when I used the offending livewell (front one on...

    Fish fry

The reality is I use a wide variety of commercially available batters and coatings as they are all tasty and variety is the spice of life. And for whatever reason, I still add a goodly amount of italian bread crumbs.

    New boat companies

The ones that are doing 100, or more hours a year are not usually the ones running 20-30 miles at WOT trying to get somewhere. Instead, they are like me and have a boat that is well matched to its motor for trolling with the main engine. My 17.5 ft Lund Fisherman with a 115 Yamaha trolls...

    Weed killer for grass

Yes, the stuff labeled as Tordon RTU is really a tree killer mixture of 2-4D and picloram. It is intended to be used as is, hence the "Ready To Use", so if you wanted to you could probably kill leafy spurge with it, but isn't it about $15/quart? I wouldn't want to have much spurge around if I...
