Replied to your PM. You have my number. There's probably not a ton of time between football practice and dark, but we'll figure it out.

    New To Hunting Help Appreciated!

Yep, I can do that. I have both 100 and 125 fixed broadheads he could have. @Logan Stegmiller I'm in the FM area, and can help you with archery. I can shoot over 80 yards right in my back yard, and aside from a bow press, am pretty well set up with archery stuffs. PM me if you want to come...

    Flex Seal Rifle Bedding?

I say spray the whole works with it. No more barrel harmonics to worry about when load tuning ;:;rofl

    glow nocks LED thingies

+1 on the Nocturnals, but whats this "ordering"? They have them on the shelf at Scheels. Also, because they are heavier, ~23 grains vs 7-9 for a regular noc, and that weight is at the back of the arrow, you will lose a couple percentage points of FOC, and they may make your arrow shoot a bit...

    Reloading Newbie Questions?

Hornady is pretty good, Winchester is ok, and Nosler is not worth it. Lapua, Peterson, and ADG are top-tier. I think out of those, only Peterson makes 270 Win. In any case, you should run it through your sizer before loading to make sure each is uniform.

    After a Self Defense Shooting

Haha, I live in Fargo, and I agree. Give it to MN. That would finally convince the wife to move the hell out of here.

    6.5 Match in Ballistic Gel

Lucky. I've never been able recover a Barnes. They've all passed through so far. There is something to be said about them not expending all of their energy inside the animal, but I don't like lead in my food, and I've never had a Barnes-shot animal get away, so I'll stick with them for the...

    6.5 Match in Ballistic Gel

There's your problem. Why do people purposely take neck shots? The only "kill" shot is the spine at the back of the neck. Sure, there are large veins and arteries in there too, but with a whole lot of largely non-vital meat in between. Shoot the thing in the lungs / heart and it may not drop...

    Youth Deer Season

As others have said, you as a parent need to make that call, and then be right by their side to mentor them through the entire process. My 10 yo (11 in Dec) has had a lot of training. He's shot so many prairie dogs and steel plates in all different shooting positions that I had no doubts.

    Youth Deer Season

Junior got his very first on Saturday night. Our one and only time out due to scheduling conflicts with elk hunting. -- Seriously, why is this season so short and in September??? Anyway, thanks to another gracious landowner, we got set up in a blind about 3pm, which was a bit early, but gave...

    Surcharge on unvaccinated

Just like all the mask bullshit, this sounds plausible on the surface, but completely falls apart once you apply any real logic to it. Risky behavior? You mean like being fat, or the possibility of getting pregnant? Those two things alone cost employers and insurance companies billions each...

    Fixed vs Mechanical Broadheads

You can calculate FOC using this: FOC Calculator & How to Calculate Arrow Front of Center (bowhunting.com) 480 is not bad, but I would prefer to be over 500gr and 15% FOC. The Ranch Fairy would say 550gr is the minimum for an "adult arrow", but I think he's mostly shooting pretty short range...

    Fixed vs Mechanical Broadheads

I've also been trying to find the right balance. The last two years I was running a 250 spine Victory Xtorsion with 3 blazers in a right-hand helical, 75gr insert, 125gr head and Nocturnal lighted nock at 622.7gr finished weight. That thing is a hammer, but past 50 yards, due to the weight...

    Fixed vs Mechanical Broadheads

What is your finished arrow weight and FOC? I went full retard on the heavy arrow / high FOC path and have 100% pass-throughs since.

    Fixed vs Mechanical Broadheads

I'm shooting Magus Black Hornet 125 4-blades. They fly just like my field points, as did the Magus Stingers before them. In general, if your broadheads are the same weight as your field points, but don't group with them, it means your bow is not as well tuned as you think. Break out the paper...

NDA Ammo and Reloading Component TRADE thread

I have two of these. The good: They seem to work well. They track well out past 1000 yards, and return to zero. The less good: They are more of a "hunting" turret, and not a true "tactical" turret. For example, there's no way to set the zero stop below zero, no revolution indicator, etc...

    Load Testing

^^^ Right. I was trying to show that even in the most extreme case, (like maybe you took one shot over the chrono, which happened to be the high end of your ES, and used that as your MV, and then the next shot was at the other end of your ES)... it still doesn't matter much.
