    Access

I actually don't mind reducing motorized access within public lands. Should reduce hunting pressure, which benefits 'wilderness athletes' like myself and horse / lama people, who are generally neat. My perspective on this may change in another 40 years when I'm rolling on prosthetic body parts...

DIY Duracoat - It can be done

Come on -- That's a subtle, but distinct upgrade. I didn't go all 'racing stripes' on it like I did with my Caprice and a can of spray paint in high school. It's tempting though...

DIY Duracoat - It can be done

Also inspired by Bed Wetter: Send me your bowties and I'll paint them with Duracoat for $50. Replacement set costs $125: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45JACU/?tag=nodakangler10-20 PM me if interested. I'll tell you the easiest way to get both front and rear bowties off. I might...

    Definition of "Giant" and "Monster"???

I generally disdain all outdoor shows except (some) predator hunting. As long as there isn't obviously staged crap, I find it instructional and enjoyable. Of course I'm only watching when I can't be out there myself... But I agree Johnr: Watching SumDumFuk in Texas shooting a buck on a feeder...

    Deer are Jerks

Hmm... tempting, but that would take a bit of time with an air brush. - - - Updated - - - I agree it's not fun. It's a bit disorienting. First the bag is in your face and then the powder / dust crap from the propellant. My wife thought the truck was on fire. It leaves a sulfur-like smell...

    Deer are Jerks

Update: total damage to my truck was over 11 grand. I guess aside from the obvious damage and air bag situation, the air conditioner condenser was damaged a bit, the front quarter panel needed to be replaced, and paint blended into the door and hood. Not sure what stings more: My sprained...

DIY Duracoat - It can be done

Rollin down Rodeo with a Shotgun... I recently did an original Super Black Eagle for a buddy. It's his duck / goose gun, so I figured a duck theme was appropriate. I used a decoy bag for the pattern and then softened it a bit with an overshot of FDE. Ended up with 5 different colors on it...

    Deer are Jerks

Holy schnikes, was it something like this?

    Deer are Jerks

Thanks for the tip. I've always been skeptical of sprays for deterring deer, but if Guy says it works, it must be good. I may mix it in with my turtle wax to keep them off my truck :D

    Deer are Jerks

Unfortunately, my yard is on the edge of suburbia, and the deer only come through at night. I'm afraid there is no silver lining to those a-holes wrecking my trees.

    Deer are Jerks

Years ago my brother was also pulling his boat and had one run into the side of the boat. It shattered the plastic fender, rolled a couple times, then to our amazement, got up and ran off.

    Deer are Jerks

Yeah, don't know... I think it's cause the bumper took most of it. The headlight was actually intact, just all the surrounding stuff that shattered. This is when you're glad to have insurance. It's going to cost a shit ton to fix the airbags. I think the whole top of the dash will need to be...

    Deer are Jerks

When I was 16, I had one hit me. It was still daylight and I could see the thing running toward the road from a good 60 yards out. I was trying to slow down, but it was downhill and icy. The stupid thing ran right into the front quarter panel and rolled up over the windshield right in front of...

    Deer are Jerks

Especially this ass hat, who decided the northbound lane of I29 was a good place to hang out at 10pm on a Friday night. 1/2 ton truck + 18ft boat @ 70mph = extra squished deer. The bumper took most of it, which deployed the front airbags. That made it interesting... When the pecker...

    Fish mount or picture?

Picture and throw it back. You'll catch bigger ones. As for the replica opinion... IDK... my argument would be: most times the only original part of a deer shoulder mount is the antlers, so how much of that is "your deer"? The mount is meant to be a wall ornament and a reminder of the great...

    More AR Stuff

1-7 should stabilize up to the 77+ grain target bullets. However, whatever you go with, I recommend trying out the American Eagle 50grn Varmint Tip (gray polymer tip) rounds. Those cheap things shoot so well out of my 16" 1-7 twist that I don't bother to reload for it.

    More AR Stuff

Go with the 18 if it has a longer gas system. If they are both the same. Go with the 16. It will be handier and you won't lose much velocity. You should also compare twist rates, although they're both likely to be at least 1-9, which is plenty for the lightweight varmint bullets I suspect...

public land back country archery elk hunt

I've done this twice in 2 different areas in Colorado. The first time I arrowed a satellite bull. The second time, my brother got one. Neither one huge, but on a DIY backcountry archery hunt, anything is a trophy. Our trip from last year was briefly documented here...

    big 3 drawing

Last year I got drawn for elk. If you look through my posts here, you'll notice I've never said anything bad about NDGF. Coincidence?

Successful on Cow moose. I gives a damn about moose antlers, so works for me.
