    Vacation Time

After 15 yrs with the same employer, I get 208 hrs of vacation a year, plus another ~100 hrs of various time off for when I work over my 40/week. Bottom line, it's still not enough! I could use a 12 hour work week.

    Building a new house

Garage door openers that are wall mounted are sure nice when you are standing in the back of your pickup. My last house had I-Drive garage door openers, they are a little bit more than standard chain/belt drives, but about the same as the high end chain and belt drives. One thing about them is...

    Need a new FoodSaver recommendation

Me being a cheap-ass as well, went back to the FoodSaver well, so to speak. They have a 20% off and free shipping option due to Memorial Day that is still in effect today. I ordered one out of their "GameSaver" line. http://www.foodsaver.com/gamesaver-landing/gamesaver-landing.html - - -...

    Building a new house

Personally, I'd probably slap any builder who doesn't include ceiling fan/lights in the original electrical plans. And I'd probably fire the electrical contractor who goes nuts on the switched outlets. Nothing worse than plugging something in and having to then walk over to a set of light...

    Need a new FoodSaver recommendation

Well, the old FoodSaver 840 finally bit the dust (broken cutter assembly and no parts available). So I need to get a new one. Any recommendations from the peanut gallery on all the new models? Standup vs lay flat on counter, etc, etc. Mine generally only gets used to package 2-4 deer, a...

Well my boat has built in AC now....

Yeah, this sucks. Let your phone be your friend if the insurance company balks at this. I have heard the Lund version of a walk-through windshield is a little over $2k. Often times it's because the middle glass wasn't latched and ended up shattering when a gust of wind whips it open, or...

Tobacco gardens incident am I wrong?

We'd all like our own personal ramps. Something to that effect is how I would have put it. I was out at a smaller lake today and had a fella coming off the water load his rig, then sit on the ramp packing everything up. I asked him if he could pull off the ramp so I could load my boat and he...

    2014 f200xb questions

Why are you thinking you need a 4 blade vs. the standard 3? A fourth blade adds drag and will be tougher to turn than a 3 blade of the same design. I think the 4 blade options are intended for holeshot and when efficiency is an actual issue, like much greater than 10% slip.

    Boat Performance Questions

I don't have an answer for you, but those are indeed some god-awful numbers, IMHO. SDMF may be onto something with the hook comment, but I didn't think Alumacrafts were known for that problem, mostly Crestliners and other less expensive aluminum manufacturers. This may sound stooped, but have...

    Firearm insurance

I am guessing that like most homeowner policies I have had, the default limit for firearms is something around $1,500 and that makes it necessary for those who have an active outdoor lifestyle to carry extra insurance. I carry a "rider" on my insurance to cover the extra things like toys...

    Anyone ever had this happen.

"putting it in the wrong hole" I wonder if that has ever been said when there's not a boat in the conversation?

    Sakakawea Smelt Die-Off Occuring

Hated the smelt die offs in the 80s. Fishing was terrible for weeks at a time. Pretty tough to get a walleye interested in anything when there's a dead smelt every 6 inches along the shore and in the water. Uggh!

Lake Tschida camping spot to close

no, I wouldn't buy llamas. For some reason I just don't like them. I think you have misunderstood something here. Any lease holder who didn't see this coming and decided to build a deck or put in septic field, etc after 2009 was in pure denial of the risk. Much like I would be if you had...

Lake Tschida camping spot to close

I am pretty sure that lease monies, just like pretty much any other fee collected by a federal agency goes to the U.S. Treasury. Reason being the U.S. Congress wants to set the budgets for the federal agencies and have them run for their congressionally authorized missions and not running as a...

Lake Tschida camping spot to close

Why is it so hard for you to admit that the government's job is to look out for the general public and not a select group of people? By the way, I don't know for sure that they needed permits from Reclamation to build a deck. Do you? p.s. I answered the pasture question. I have no issue...

    WHOOO Finally joined!

Welcome! and congrats on the family addition. I will take one small disagreement though with the above on pics. Do as you wish with the electronic pics, there's lots of good ways to keep them around between thumb drives, add-on hard drives, and in the cloud storage. However, about once a...

    ND spring weather

The orange orchards in Florida turn on the water sprinklers. The theory being it takes more energy to lower the temperature of the water on tree buds/branches to create the damage a frost would do. I guess if you wanted to get up about 4 AM and set out the sprinklers it should help. Actually...

ND fishing lodge. Profit or bust?

There are a few, but not many, places on Sak that I know of where private land gets down to the shoreline. Mostly surveying errors, and none that I know of where the water is deep enough to install a durable (for water level swings) boat ramp. I'd have to imagine the Corps would be a bugger...
