    Black Stone Grills

Store bought, usually royal oak. I stay away from Kingsford as much as possible because I read somewhere they soak they're stuff in lighter fluid. I never light my charcoal with lighter fluid, feel like it ruins the taste of the meat. One good thing about briquettes is the ability to evenly...

    Black Stone Grills

The 36" blackstones are great for big dinners, but in my experience, for a family of 5, it's rarely need. I'd also say they are mega propane guzzlers with all four burners on.

    Black Stone Grills

I have charcoal grill that I've used the last two nights.... so not primitive, but pretty dang close. That said, I don't like the briquettes... I don't feel like they hold heat as long, but lump charcoal is incredbile. Nothing beats it's flavor.

Second the flip cover or just one that has a lid. Love my blackstones.

    Fishing Plan This Year

I'm going to focus on pitching plastics shallow as soon as the ice is off after last years late fall expedition of doing a similar tactic. Next is working jiggin' raps and learning the shadow rap. After that it's do what the fish want. Two years ago I cranked like a maniac and had giant...

    Tennis elbow and fishing

Everything is worth a second, or even third opinion. My BIL had a cancer reoccurrence and Mayo wanted to go ALL IN on surgery/chemo/radiation. The surgery happened, but after the second opinion at MD Anderson, the rest didn't and he's been great thus far! This isn't a knock on Mayo either, just...

    Tennis elbow and fishing

I don't have tennis elbow, but I have had something going on in my wrist for a couple of years now. It's really affected my jiggin' rap and jiggin thru the ice. I did PT for it and it helped alot, but it still fatigues fast and if I fish the entire day I end up switching to my left hand.

What have you done with Tatonka Dust lately?

Used to be a huge fan of Tatanka Dust, but I believe they have fallen behind the curve, or perhaps other brands have caught on and easily surpassed them. Traegers Blackened Saskatchewan is one, careful on how much you put on a steak though. Hardcore Carnivore's Black is my current favorite.

    Favorite Braided Fishing Line

Yes! The stretch in the mono drastically helps to keep the fish hooked, especially if i'm ripping jiggin' raps. I still tie a fluoro leader directly to the mono, just like I do on all my braided rods. I should also mention that if I'd be jiggin with a ML rod then I'd probably still be running...

    Favorite Braided Fishing Line

Tried powerpro for my first braided line and haven't been given a reason to try anything else. I us it on every rod/reel combo except my jiggin rod where I quickly discovered I was pulling hooks. For ice season I've been using clam pro tackle braid, it fades fast, but like powerpro, I haven't...

    Winnipeg

When i bought mine for our trip in January it was 4 and 6. I think that expires in April. The guide we were with mentioned next years license will not allow you to keep a fish over 21". No masters....

    Livescope portable boat mount

Good info. Looks like I'm going to have to make some adjustments to my summit set up for the boat.

Our crossing at Pembina was the easiest it's ever been this year.

I have been running my unit out of a shuttle year round since I bought it for this exact same reason. I can get a full day at 10 degrees fishing outside with my amped 18ah battery, so there's no reason it wouldn't last all day on a boat in the summer.

Our guide, and the guide next to us, both from Blackwater Cats used a Husqvarna grass trimmer power head that was tuned and modified to attach to an auger. I did not ask what kind of auger it was but assume it uses chipper blades due to the amount of holes they are drilling each day. We never...

Just got back from a Friday/Saturday guided trip with Blackwater cats. They require you to book two days because most people just wanted a day mark locations and then came back to fish the same areas themselves the next day. Travel is possible by truck, but I wouldn't go out without second to...

I second everything @Kentucky Windage says here. My Garmin UHD 93sv is 10x easier to operate than a previously owned Humminbird and a lot of it has to do with the touchscreen. I also didn't really have to change anything on my settings to make it better. I run it out of the boat with a GT54...

How about a crappie Christmas tree instead? This was a toned down version of the day.

    New Boots

I field tested these boots for Korker last year. I ran the sole with shorter metal spikes and they performed great for me on the ice. I still don't recall slipping all the way to a fall in them yet (knock on wood). I will say they aren't the warmest in conditions below zero, but Korker does make...
