I actually bumped a young bull out of a slough about a half hour SW of Fargo last December during a late season pheasant hunt. Scared the poop out of me. My boy and I also saw another young bull just north of Brewer Lake last October high-tailing it across a harvested corn field.
I've seen...
^^^^^ Ain't that the sad truth. There's no bite to our bark. Criminals get three squares a day, cable TV, internet, full access to gyms, outdoor recreation, and even an education. All on the backs of taxpayers.
Since it started in ND and they likely crossed into MN, it could be a federal crime. The same way Dru Sjodin's killer got to death row. Of course, he's still there...not dead. But that's the way to circumvent ND's non death penalty status.
I wish I could have afforded to buy another set of the factory Wranglers that came on my F150. Got 75K out of them.
Replaced with Toyo. So far so good, and much more friendly on the wallety.
Here's an interesting and thorough article from Outdoor Life: http://www.outdoorlife.com/heres-what-you-need-to-know-about-peta-facebook-photo-frame?src=soc&dom=fb
I guess I'm not even afraid of physical harm. There's a lot of ways people with bad ideas can mess up your life without ever sticking a finger on you.
I'd just rather not go down that road. I'm already paranoid some illegal immigrant has my kids' SS numbers and is racking up a mountain of debt...
I should be clear that I'm not scared of PETA goons filling my in-box with hate mail. That's fine. I kind of welcome it. What I DON'T need is them finding out I'm married with kids. Or digging up my address. Or making physical threats knowing they know exactly WHO I am.
I realize that anybody...
I might not make it out this early season, but if I do it will be later. Went by the Crystal Sugar plant yesterday and all 400 honkers (or there abouts) had flown a mile north to a harvested grain field. The entire 80 acres was COVERED with geese -- spread out into individual family flocks...
As STUPID as I like to think PETA and their ilk are, I can't help but feel this was done purposely. No matter how flung their initiatives and strategies are, they are pretty well calculated.
Data mining, perhaps? ID theft? Some other nefarious means? I think it's neat that all my friends are...
You know, the Red River is less than a block from my house. I wish it didn't seem like such a death trap. It would be great to get the dogs down there every night for a swim.
Even though GWPs are a lean breed, they can get lazy like any dog. I've found that the best way to exercise them is regular training, mixed with runs a few times a week. Training is a given, and the runs keep us all in shape.
Maybe a few, but actually it will mean a few less hunters chasing around even fewer birds on fewer acres of public land. Methinks the pressure won't change a lick -- at least from our perspective.
I imagine it will be a stark contrast to recent hunting seasons. It's funny that nobody in the Outdoor biz has picked up on it. Hardest drought in the state is the famed SW area of Connanonball, Regent, etc. Methinks certain guides/outfitters are hoping the word doesn't get out??
