    Helix 5 conundrum

So I got a $50 gift card for Scheels and decided to swing by there over lunch to see if they had Humminbird ice duckers. Asked the associated up there and he showed me the stack. "You got a Helix 5 Sonar?" he asked. "Yup," I said. "The DI." "Oh, well this won't work." "What?" "I just was...

    Ice Auger Poll

I think the tech for electric augers is way, way better than it used to be...but still has a little ways to go. I thought I liked propane...until my buddy's quit working on a subzero day. Gas augers for this guy...at least for now. The Strikemaster I've had going on 8 years still fires up...

I was going to say, I think you just perfectly described the Helix series. I think either the 5 or 7 will double as summer and winter units.

    Stuck at home

We had our second kid in June. Guess how many times I've visited the magic kingdom since then? Pretty sure I've forgotten what to do at this point.

would you do this to save your dog?

After recently spending $1,500 to keep my dog alive, I'd gladly sock a kangaroo in the kisser.

    meteorological pontifications...

Once again the storm missed Fargay. This has become the norm of late. I predict 40 inches of precipitation for the winter season. And other than shit roads, not much snow. Too bad we don't have a huge walleye lake nearby. Ice would be awesome with our lack of white stuff.

    Ideal Deadstick Rod

True Story: Many moons ago, a buddy and I decided to try ice fishing devils lake. We went to a small bay on a tip from a buddy and set up for walleyes and pike. This resulted in six tips-ups with quick-strike rigs and a couple jigging rods in my midget-sized Shappell 2000 ice "house." The...

    Ideal Deadstick Rod

The way I see it, I am accustomed to not catching fish for hours on end. Why hop around in frigid fishless misery? Might as well be comfortable.

Leasing Land to Hunt- Is it becoming the new normal?

I'll hunt public. Do almost exclusively. And if that got too crowded I guess I would fish more.

That just sucks to hear. I hope the walleyes are just tough enough to catch in heaven to keep things interesting. RIP Andrew.

    My pillow

Chunk that scrap even further, find some cheap XXL pillow cases, and sell them for $100 a pop as luxury dog beds. You're welcome. - - - Updated - - - Christ. That was simultaneous with my post.

    Ideal Deadstick Rod

Ahab said his "deadstick rod now consists of an ice buster bobber with my second sonar in the hole." My comment eluded to the way his sentence could be misconstrued as his dead stick actually having an ice buster bobber AND sonar on one line. Because of the way he structured the sentence.

That must be a ginormous bobber. Transducers are damn heavy.
