    Hitting the woods Saturday!

This spot is in the woods on a large tract of public property. If the tall crops are up, that's where the deer will be. If not, I'm hoping they're running the trails through the woods in the wee hours. I care little about shooting a big antlered deer. I'm all about a 15-yard shot on a...

    Hitting the woods Saturday!

I hate burning a bird hunting weekend to chase deer, but I'm planning on trying to fill my archery tag Saturday so we can get venison in the freezer. It was a long, long summer relying on one deer for the family, so hopefully if I can get it done and then fill my rifle tag on opener (Lord...

    Migration

I saw a flock of specks fly over Fargo last night. Odd sighting out here. Can't speak for central ND, however.

    Brace Yourselves: Cecil 2.0

Well then he probably deserves it! Only crappy thing is it spills out on ALL us hunters. One person's idiocy impacts the entire group.

    Brace Yourselves: Cecil 2.0

God I hope they don't release the names of the hunters. After the whole Cecil the Lion shitshow, this could take it to a whole 'nother level. Why? I'll give you three reasons: 1) A cuddly, harmless bear ::: 2) New Jersey 3) His name was Pedals ;:;banghead...

    Wood or synthetic stock?

When I saved up to splurge on a Benelli M2, I knew I wanted a synthetic stock. For the amount of abuse my shotguns get, a wood stock and blued barrel would have been toast after the first season. But my old Remington 700 in Turty-Ought-Six has a beautiful wood stock. I use it at the range...

    Ice fishing prep

They are. I have the 2-man. Bought it because I hate fumbling with those stupid buttons on pole extensions. No extending the poles. They're a set height. Not perfect for those tall giants of the world, but I've yet to bump my noodle on the roof. I think they just came out with a thermal...

    Ice fishing prep

All I want is to replace the tarp on my old Shappell 2000 suitcase house. You laugh, but that's a killer little shack for solo outings.

    Hangover Food

You get hangovers because of dehydration. If you remember to drink water in between beers or booze, your hangover will be a thing of the past. We have a long ice fishing weekend on Red Lake every year. Drinking starts with bloody Marys in the am and goes until the last person passes out...

    E-Collar

I got to try out two types and settled on the SportDOG Tek 2.0. I didn't like the touchscreen of the Tri-Tronics Alpha. Plus I was bumping it constantly. The Tek 2.0 isn't perfect, either...has an issue where it'll freeze up when you try to power down and if you don't catch it your battery goes...

    E-Collar

Good buddy runs his with beep collars. It's nice for cattails, which is all we hunt. But I've never particularly liked the beep. I bought a GPS collar last fall. Let's me know when a dog is on point, and I can key in on him ninja-style. The roosters don't know what hit them.

Neither dog has ever rolled in anything. I have no idea why. Wasn't a trained thing.

Euro Mounts done at Fort KDM Now.

I stand corrected. And I feel silly. - - - Updated - - - Also, I will be hitting the woods with bow in hand in two weeks. If I come home with anything worthy of your services, KDM, you'll be getting a visit. Thanks!!

Euro Mounts done at Fort KDM Now.

So...it's cheaper if I send you a buck head with skin, fur, and neck attached than one that's been skinned and detached from the neck? Am I reading that right?

    Wirehaired Griffon Owners / Breeders

Uh oh...my condolences. :;:cheers - - - Updated - - - That is one downfall in the GWP. Sometimes your coat is a crapshoot. I personally own a more traditional GWP and a slick GWP (I got it almost full grown and knew it wasn't going to have a wirey coat). Honestly, other than the one...

    coyote attack

What an awesome experience! Almost wonder if he knew she'd get away, but hoped he could do enough damage to injure her. Now he'll just trail her for a few days until she's weak enough for the kill. The Komodo Dragons of the prairie. Versatile, efficient killers.

Where are the NDBA hunting records??

The dude is the luckiest man I know. He drew that tag his first time applying for the moose license. Proceeded to shoot a monster bull. In the meantime, got a job at a bank in Watford City right before the oil boom hit. Bought a house for peanuts. Wound up getting transferred to eastern ND at...

Where are the NDBA hunting records??

That 2016 moose thread got me thinking about North Dakota archery records. Back in 2010, a college buddy arrowed what was then the No. 4 bull moose in state history (53.5-inch inside spread, but don't know/can't find the final score). Used to be a list on the North Dakota Bowhunters Association...
