    Arrow use after the kill

    I check the shaft for weaknesses by bending it and listening for cracks and pops that would indicate some of the carbon fibers are damaged. If I hear nothing, it gets cleaned, the broadhead gets sharpened, and the arrow is put back in the quiver.

    Found out lamb and young goat are EXCELLENT meals while down in Peru. The only thing about either of those dishes is that you MUST EAT IT HOT!! Otherwise the fat reconstitutes and the meat seems like it's covered in crisco. Makes me drool mossy!!

    Hate to say it, but I think that buck's a goner!!! Pretty good whack to send that thing that far. He'll probably lay down, get stiff, and not ever get up again due to internal shock trauma. Tough end for a nice looking deer.

    Ice fishing by December?

    I keep punching holes in the ice with my feet while rooster hunting so I think I'll refrain from drilling any holes in the ice for a while yet. The pup and I did manage a couple roosters, so a wet foot wasn't so irritating after we were done hunting.

    We got into a pretty good discussion about this in my house. I took the "devils advocate" position and asked "If a muzzle made out of leather and steel was OK, why isn't a muzzle made out of duct tape OK?? That got the ball rolling quite well.

    I think if you have to tape a dogs mouth shut, you've failed as a pet owner and trainer, but here's one of my thoughts......You can CUT HIS BALLS OFF and that's OK, but tape his mouth shut and you get 15 years in the slammer?? HMMMM!!!
