Men's happiness seems to be more internally based. Meaning they do stuff they like to do and are happy. Women's happiness seems to be more externally based. Meaning materialistic stuff. House, cars, jewelry, clothes, and the like. Given these two generalizations, I'd have to say that men are more innately happy regardless of the circumstances surrounding their lives where as women's happiness has to be bought or created from stuff outside themselves. My evidence...I've seen LOTS of homeless guys laughing and joking up a storm in the missions and soup lines. I can't say that I've seen the same from the women in the same situation. Ahab hit the nail square on the noggin pretty much with his post.

Once again it leads me to thinking that quite a few men have married the wrong woman!
I think most men THINK women are happier by material possessions, so they think they can just buy her stuff and then not pay any attention to her. But the truth is women are looking for a relationship and an emotional connection to their spouse. That's why there's so many jokes about no sex after marriage. I think most men just don't get it........and that's why they don't GET IT.

If your wife sees your post you may be one of the guys laughing in the soup lines
If you guys think this, then it's no wonder that you don't understand women. This is a generalization but it's men who are more interested in things and less interested in people and relationships.
another example of the happiness differences....... Cosmo magazine. Filled with stories about how to please your man, 20 things to spice things up in the boudoir, is he over his ex? crap like that. Playboy magazine. Boobs and Jokes. We are just less complex. The reason they say "men are from mars and women are from venus" is because they ask so many damn questions we had to move to our own planet to have some peace and quiet.
