Looking at getting the 13 fishing Envy for pitching this spring/summer. Anyone have any pros or cons to this brand?

Wade, at Dakota Tackle in Bismarck, said that a lot of people like these rods, and return them for warranty work, and he prefers the St Croix. That's all I needed to hear. I was standing there, cash in hand, and he talked me into a cheaper rod. How often does THAT happen?

I've got the omen so far I like it has good feel with a jig but have not hooked a fish with it but only used it once. From what the guy at Scheels told me 13 makes their Roda also.

I like the titanium eyes idea... I don't know, I might just go buy another Croix.

Customer service on their winter rods pretty much stinks.....

Wade didn't say this, quite, but I could see he was thinking it. I was pretty much on board to buy an Omen, and went with an HMG by St Croix instead. Have caught many fish with it, and have liked it very much. Bought a medium heavy for yanking pike out of trees, and the rod fishes better than its owner.

+2 on the Fenwick rods. I run HMX's, still a great rod but having the extra sensitivity of the HMG or the elite tech would be nice, especially for pitching.

Sawyer,
I run both 13 and St Croix rods and like them equally. I am not a Fenwick fan but it's a personal preference not a bad experience.

Right you are Waggerton. My mistake. My street cred just plummeted. In my mind, I can see the Fenwick HMG rod info, and St Croix is being whispered in my ear.

I DID buy a Fenwick, and am happy with it. I was going to buy an Omen, and was sorta talked out of it. I do not have any St Croix rods, although I'd considered them too. Dirtymike has a very nice St Croix or two, and I believe they were purchased upon the advice of Capt Ahab.

I have a 13 longrod that I purchased last year from the Outfitters on north hill in minot. I believe the price was $115 and it has now become my go to rod. I prefer it to my $250 scheels rod that was my favorite for 3 years...

I bought one as an upgrade to a broken eyecon. I said "what the heck, send me an xtreme" as he said I could use the retail price of the eyecon as a trade in. From then on, I was hooked. Got me a 5 pack of them now.

The scheels one rod blanks are 13 fishing. I absolutely love my scheels one rods with recoil guides. Are the St. Croix extremes really that much better than them? They don't have the recoil guides which I think are awesome. Also, which are better the St. Croix extremes or the elites and why?

13 fishing is quite innovative. they also make reels. Both baitcasters and spinners. there ice fishing reels ar by far the best I've used. As far as rods goes everyone has an opinion. 13 fishing makes great stuff. they have a new line out to replace the 8 fishing series called one three.

I have half a dozen 13 omen rods for sale if anyone's interested. All are new with tags. Some spinning and some bait caster's. Will sell for less then the sticker on them. Better deal if you buy all. I like the rods, but I over bought.
