The reason the hockey games are Thurs/Fri is Minn (#1 Big 10 west) is playing Wisconsin (#2) in football on Sat in MSP for the Paul Bunyan Axe trophy. Big rivalry.
I think there are more UND fans at the game then goofer fans.
Wouldn't surprise me. We went to the Hall of Fame Game in Vegas in Oct '18 and I'm sure there were over 7000 UND fans and less than 500 UM fans.
That is really not a fair representation since UND only sold 500 tickets to Minnesota most of the UND season ticket holders bought all the tickets before they were offered to the public
k,Was not aware of that but I will ask. It might take some time tho. Hard to imagine why a team would agree to play in a special game like that when their fans were not allowed to buy tickets.
Did that happen this year too when they announced the Hall of Fame game with Penn State in Nashville for next October?
This weekend likely destroyed the Gophers recruiting for the foreseeable future. They will always have local kids that want to play for the gophers, but I bet the bulk of them wanting to develop will look elsewhere. Their program is in shambles.
The NCHC is getting pretty attractive with the number of NCHC kids now in the NHL in addition to owning the last 4 national titles.
I think the Big Ten took care of most of that. Kinda feel bad for them as they didn't want to leave the WCHA but were forced to. I don't follow hockey much anymore but it is startling to see how much the fan base has left the gophers. Did they have 1000 fans of their own at Thursday's game?
