what do you like to run for shells and shot size in your 410's?Our 410s are ready to rock, bird numbers look good.
and the beaksKeep the cheeks.
Well time frame is alot. Area is another. But absolutely birds can be had without a dog i slowly hunt without them for last 10 years always get on birds. Tactics do change after birds have been hunted but in my opinion once it starts to get colder bird pattern change also if you can adapt or something worked in past is true to form usually anywhere u go. But birds without dogs is a diff form of upland one has to adjust. Examples so look for spots that birds are likely in play weather conditions can make or break a spot/ walk. Other things are better very keen with noise try and get close to cover/hiding spots with 0 sound. Pheasant anyhow love to run in grass Rather than busting/flying. So depending on wind listen and look for birds scurrying away from trouble once u get on a family group like that run at them try and flush them. Also young birds an early season is always birds that just freeze an hide. maybe that helped prolly not i generally hunt coulees and swails in fields if u walking crp cover ground u walk enough u will kick birds at your feet!!Dumb question for you ying yangs. The better half and I will be traveling to Colorado in the near future for a wedding. Probably traveling thru ND, SD, WY and Co. Only for 3-4 nites...without my dog. Does even make sense to bring the firearms/out of state licenses/ for whatever season is open in those states? Pheasant? Partridge? I am sure we will have to have guns cased traveling per regs no matter what we do. Please advise. tks

Oh haha yes like one side of the state makes damn sure every county route in eastern nd is paved payed at the expense of western nd fucking applauded that. Shit you have to buy a new pickup every year out here roads eat trucks for dinner hard scrabble mofo. Come get it!!!!!We had a bunch of hail this year in western ND, ruined another season. Close to zero birds, and really nothing going on out here, most bars have closed too. Almost forgot the roads are mostly closed, as we ran out of maintainers, and guys to run them.
Best bet is to go to Minnesota and root for the boys on the cheer squad.
I’d stop hunting at the ND line. W SD you can find some grouse. WY too, but much of the area you’ll travel is pretty devoid of birds. The only pheasant hunting they have is state released birds. CO I can’t comment on.Dumb question for you ying yangs. The better half and I will be traveling to Colorado in the near future for a wedding. Probably traveling thru ND, SD, WY and Co. Yup past experience unless in a sizable group done quicklyI'm limited first little walk I got 2 then about a 1/2 down the trail a single rooster in a little bush now I guess I'll go fishing![]()
Up there right now. Saw three elk, four pheasants, and a covey of partridge yesterday.Anyone going to Pembina this weekend?
I know I didn't do much damage to them! One rooster on Saturday.More huns than pheasants in the bag. The wind......no one out today. Saturday saw three other groups out.
I think the pheasants survived opening weekend very well.
