3M clear vehicle protective wrap

Has anybody put the 3M clear protective stuff on any of your vehicles? I was thinking of getting my front bumper and lower sides of my truck wrapped to protect from rock chips. It seems that the newer paint these days sucks(thanks Obama/EPA).

Anywhere in Bismarck you would recommend?

Good stuff,my office is across the road from 3m,new trucks with painted bumpers.mirrors this product saves the paint,most corvette owners wrap the entire car.Google the product,3m pre cuts the wrap for different vehicles,have a dealer imstall the product and they'll warrenty the product if it yellows and starts to peel which I have'nt seen over the years.Good stuff.

Might work great for rock chips on new boats instead of the bulky trailer protectors.

Wonder how this would work on the front of a fifth wheel camper, worst job ever is getting the dam bugs off at the end of the season?

I called today and got a quick estimate. Basically about a grand to do front of truck and rocker panels. Not sure it makes it any easier to clean bugs off, but maybe. It's certainly not something your just gonna peal off at the end of summer.

Actually makes the bugs harder to get off. Those little bastards actually causes little smudges to form on that film. Great for rock chips though - we live on 5 miles of gravel and my wife's black car with 60,000 miles on it looks pretty darn good still! I'd put it on again.

I have also looked at this concept recently, wish I would have known about this product when I bought my pickup. If I were to get it done, you can by a kit on amazon and it looks relatively easy to do. Would be worth it in my opinion. Have seen it on other vehicles and it looks great. I would try myself before spending a grand if you feel you have the ability. They also make a spray on option in clear, not sure if I would try that though.

Body shop told me it yellowed over time a few years back, wonder if the new stuff 8s better. Thought about rhino lining or something similar to all of it. They can color match that stuff pretty well now.

My '09 Chevy dually 3M film applied at the factory on the leading edge of the hood and the front of the fat part of the fenders.
Getting bugs off my truck camper is easy with a long-handled soft brush and a product called Bugs B Gone. It's not an Ortho product, this stuff dissolves insect carcasses. I bought it by the gallon (dilute with water) at NAPA the last years we lived in Hazen.

Yep this is who was recommended to me by GM dealerships in town. Supposedly they do a really good job.

Simple Green, Purple Power, or any of the citrus non-toxic degreasers also do a great job of making bugs easy to clean.

Shorthairs, if you're keeping the Chevy long-term, have the rockers/fenders done with one of the liner materials. Rhino, Line-X, etc.

X2 on the simple green for bugs. Spray some on the bugs about 5 mins before you wash and it breaks them down/softens them up and they come off fairly well. Even works pretty good at the drive through car wash, keep some in the truck, spray on while filling gas and then drive through. Best stuff I've used yet to avoid having to scrub the bastards off.

Short,I suggest its time to look at upgrading,after 10 years your truck had a good run,I know a guy that can work out the details for 60 easy pymts...

Nord,I suspect the film was dealer installed as GM does'nt apply the wrap,dealer installed wrap will give you a 7yr warrenty against peeling,fading or yellowing,you can also wax over the film as well,if you get a smudge its easy to rub the smudge out and looks good as new,been there done that.

Tommy does darn good work. Had him tint garage windows and pickup windows and he is neat and fast. Asked him about the plastic on vehicles but can't remember what he said it cost.
