well I know where to find the savages lightweights. A local dealer can get them...maybe lefty? Ive just been reading up on them and a friend has one. They appear to be a excellent round. Shoot the 140 gr hornady and they have little kick. I was able to shoot one at the dealers and was expecting a push back and it had very little. He claims that many kids and even women have been buying due to the light recoil yet big rounds you can shoot.

Get a Rem 700 and a new barrel from various places like bugholes, have it rechambered and bedded and you'll be way ahead.

I agree 100% only problem is when you go that route all factory guns are sub standard. Then once your kid shoots it he thinks he needs one.

That's what I've been told and read...that the 6.5 is slowly taking over the market and predicting to really make an impression.
The 6.5 Swede is very good, but for some reason never caught on. Likewise with the 260 Remington. Long tange shooters have been using the 6.5 x 284 Norma with great success, but sportsmen have not flocked to it. The Creedmoor is ballistically nearly identicle to the 6.5 Swede and 260 Remington with bullets up to 130 gr. The smart thing the desighners at Hornady did was make a shorter case holding the same amount of powder, but leaving room to use a long bullet like the 140gr in a short action. I think the design will make this caliber very popular. It is supersonic far beyond the 308 and the 30-06 and when shooting at animals long range puts more energy on target. I would use a 308 on deer to 400 yards and a Creedmoor beyond that. Beyond 600 yards there is no competition between the three.

The 168 amax out of a .308 will kill to 600 i used to shoot that but going to the creed the .308 is like a prius racing a ss nova. The 140 amax and some h4350 right of the box from hornady and good to go. It was one of the easiest load development i have ever done

Savage has several models available in 6.5C. Predator hunter and long range hunter are a few I know off the top of my head....

No doubt and they think everything is a POS when it doesn't have a Jewell trigger stuffed in it, the bad part is I agree with them. Shoot a LRI hammer and you'll never go back!
