a couple too many fish in the well?

Happened to us again (4 people). I bought some of these to clip on the mesh right next to the well.

$2.33 each free shipping (Amazon). On their way to Fargo now with delivery in about 3 weeks so I figure they are bobbing along somewhere on the west side of the pacific.

They are constructed of little golf balls and are made for counting strokes in golf. I worry that they'll shake loose and I'll lose track if going across waves. But maybe they'll stay put since they are made for swinging from a golf bag? Anybody have one for golf?

Think they'll work or should I be getting something else? Cheap experiment anyway.

You seriously catch so many fish that you lose track of what you put in the live well?? I'm definitely fishing with the wrong people. Sorry wife and kids...

i got one given to me a couple of years ago after i passed a guy a bandaid and some antibiotics after he hooked himself... I don't normally have more than 2 people in my boat so counting to 10 has seemed to work for me

Made some out of fishing floats and para cord as Christmas presents a few years back. 4 or 5 guys in the boat, gets tough to count them in the well. Everyone got a different color. Only work when you remember to use them!

Yeah if you are throwing 15-25 eyes in the well those counters might get you close, but you will still have to sort through them all at some point to get a solid count.

No way with 4-5 people throwing fish in the well will you feel confident in the counters.

I find it fun to try and count 20 fish in the livewell. Then you get to 19 and you can't remember if it was 19 or 20 or was it 18?

Usually by that time you are good and soup sandwiched anyways so its not that big of a deal.

but in seriousness I usually just throw them in the net to count them when I'm getting close

Mine are larger than average and quite colorful. Most people find them quite attractive.

Seems like if a group can simply be militant about the concept of "no fish go in well without moving a ball" it should work fine.

Fishing with "mom and dad", wife, dog, and myself.... retying snells, backing the boat up to unsnag, and 15,000 other things going on it's hard to keep track.

We all thought we had kept good count. So when we went to do the final net count at the end we found that we had fished an hour longer in hot sun that necessary... not cool with old people like me.

As for space - these are not actual size golfballs you goofballs - they are 13 mm diameter
