Just tell them your intent wasn't to go over your limit. Laws don't really matter anymore anyway.

the problem with the counter is, you have been using it all day with 3 people in the boat and the counter show you have the limit so what happens next................. you got it you count all the fish in a net. yea been there did that.

I would like to be able to relax and just insist on having the counter getting moved every fish that goes in. It's easier to be the move-the-counter nazi than it is to remember numbers

when counter gets close (say 17 if we are headed to 20) then we count. Let's say we were short by 2 once we net count - we are at 19. Easy enough - one more.

I'd just like to relax and have something else count - at least roughly - of course you make the final count with a net once you are there or close

I hear that counting backwards helps. Instead of counting up to 25, start at 25 and count down every time you throw one in the well. Number gets smaller and easier to remember.

Take it from me: Try sucking a bit more at fishing. You never have to worry about too many fish in the live well that way.
