Take it from me: Try sucking a bit more at fishing. You never have to worry about too many fish in the live well that way.[/QUOTE]

Ha ha, was thinking the same thing! Last week camping, had problems with GPS, trolling motor, thunderstorms, and wind.;:;banghead Didn't have to worry about counting fish. ;;;;;;; And she wonders why I drink !! ;:;boozer

According to NDSGF laws however many people in your boat when "you" count to five you quit fishing. That is for each and every person that is fishing. Yeah Right, like that's going to happen.

I put a clicker in my boat, and my buddies boat back in 2012, when the fishing for us was fast and furious.

We both yell out click it whenever someone drops a fish in the box. We have then never had to count, or worry about totals since.

Quit buying clickers, clips, and all that years ago. You still need to use them and if you have a few people in the boat and/or the fishing is hot, you still always end up counting them in the livewell to make sure you have exactly what you need. As for "your" 5, once you get your 5 if you have another fish on just hand the rod to someone who hasn't before you net it. Then it's theirs.

Isn't there now a passage in the rulebook that says you have to cast for your own fish? It got put in there due to paddlefishing some time back but I don't remember if it's specific for paddlefishing or if it is across all species. Not that I've seen wardens nitpicking on this when I am out with the kids though.

That sucks. It is easy to go over and that is why you put on a glove and count the fish. I hope the wardens start clamping down up there as that lake has more illegal activity going on than any other lake in ND.

I've been using these as a fish counter for over 10yrs. In the military we call 'em Ranger Beads Ranger.jpg
There is nine on the lower-half, and five on the upper-half.

Military - each lower bead counts for 100 paces (100 meters)... one bead gets pulled down. Each 100 paces another bead comes down. When you reach 10 (1,000m) you lift the nine beads up and slide one from the top-half down to its knot. This helps you keep a pace count up to 6,000 meters, or just about four miles distance.

Fishing - Two guys in the boat? Use lower-half of beads and when the beads are all down and you catch one more, you're done. Three guys in the boat? One guy gets his own set of beads at the top. Tracks 15 fish that way. Four guys in the boat?? Oh, hell no! I don't allow four humans in my boat at the same damn time.

PRICE COMPARISON: Ranger Beads = $5.00 Exceeding Limit = $100.00

Unless, you show the game warden your ranger beads and point toward Queen Hickory that you did not 'intend' to withdraw extra fish from the water. You were simply mis-communicating with your fishing partners and it'd be easy to proof otherwise in a court of law.
