A few lakes in the Bismarck area... Questions.

How are a few of the lakes within Bismarck area. Specificly,

1. Long Lake, Moffit

2. Audubon (Must be similar to Sakakawea?)

3. Any other smaller ones worth while?

Really waiting on the Beaver Bay area at the Big lake to take off, been skunked 3 times already and dont wanna have it happen again this week.
Any info appreciated, looking to target Northerm/Walleye

this is not a smartass answer but have you been on G&F stocking lists and fishable lakes and what's in them. In that 70-100 mile range there a lot of lakes with decent fishing, guaranteeing catching fish I would never do. Check out the Robinson area, a lake like Jasper, which I caught walleye in this winter but have never summer fished. or in the Napoleon area and Wishek area, Alkaline, or Dry lake, Rice Lake south of Strasburg . So many just a matter of being on right one on right day. There are some great lakes in these areas just got to try them and find the ones that work for you. The ones named I have had success on in past and look forward to working lakes I haven't tried in these areas yet. Use what the Game and Fish tools are out there as a help

Yep, I was referring to BB on Oahe. Fishing is so hot there that even blue Rangers are pulling limits.

Browns Bay Devils Lake is all you need to know.

Your summer should look like this. Now till end of June cattail bay stateline. Maybe a trip up to Audubon in June (it isn't bbay). Then starting July east end of sakakawea. During that month make your trip to beaver bay. August stick with the big lake and hit akaline. Sept try those little lakes once the temps drop Oct too. My .02 and I don't get to fish west enough

Have you ever heard of Lake Oahe; its even got a beaver bay!

Rice can pop off generally shallow round the landing or across the lake or maybe deep some times

Sibley north an east on I-94 just got a new ramp. Hard living in Bis with such limited fishing opportunity.

What about Nelson lake? it has a plant on it so it has open water year round... State record bass came out of that lake, I heard it's crazy up there, but I wouldn't want to keep anything out of that dam due to such warm water.

What about the river... right in town? I understand the post was about lakes but we have a superb fishery right in town with those species and many more.

Drive to Curt's gas station in Wishek pick up bait. Close eyes and spin circles, open eyes drive that direction, catch walleye and snot rockets

I know It was a very generic post. I an from Bismarck now in Dickinson. I usually dont like to go to far south of Bismarck with all the trees in the water and other hazards. I think we will try BB south of Bismarck at Oahe tomorrow. We had decent luck from 4-7 today fishing a point well known all afternoon with 4 keepers and a lot of small eyes coming out of there.
I'm still learning and I get skunked a lot and barely catch a limit, Usually going out by myself so learning from someone is hard to come by.

Thanks again for the info plan on trying out new things slowly but surly. Most likely be paying for a guide service this year so pick his brain because I suck and pulling cranks/spinners in circles around a bay blows watching others net fish and you go home empty handed or with 1 or 2.

Pulling cranks is the road hunting of fishing. A lot of different opinions on how to do it but if you grind it out, you maybe learn something from us idiots. As far as where to be to catch fish, that just takes time and experience. If you're in Dickinson, don't even bother driving all the way through Bismarck for oahe. The Mandan side ramps are nice and it will save you a bunch of time.
