People in the US are much more AI skeptical than other countries and Im afraid it will result in legislation that will hinder our development compared to other countries. Therein lies the problem. Yes, it will unlock all kinds of amazing science stuff. However, when paired with robotics, it will also replace humans at even the most "blue collar" levels. The entirety of humanity will trend more useless and stupid until it no longer serves a purpose.

By definition, artificial is the opposite of natural. Created by man. A copy of something in the natural world. Heavenly Father created the natural world and for time immemorial mankind has tried to copy God, improve on His creations, and in many ways just plain be God. It ALWAYS ends badly for mankind. Take cities for example. An almost completely artificial environment and almost every facet of city living negatively impacts people. Physically, Mentally, Spiritually, and Emotionally. People, when they can't take the stress and pressure of living in the artificial world man has created, ie the cities, they inevitably seek out the natural world. Hunters/Fishermen on this very site can attest to that. People need the natural, the original, they NEED Gods creations. Not a cheap copy. To answer your question, NO, I am as far from excited as one can be.

Has anyone ever watched or read the books DUNE? They had to outlaw computers thinking for them because the robots took over and enslaved them, that's the premise of the whole series.

AI is nice to search thousands of documents and sort through them to find whatever, but to actully think and problem solve for you....ya not good

Yep, it's the same sheet of music from all three of the businesses. Just don't want to deal with, much less pay the CC companies.

Interesting on that latter part, I didn't know there were rules against upcharging the credit card user to pass the cost on to them. The government sure does it. I think I write about 10 paper checks a year nowadays, 8 for quarterly taxes, one for property taxes, and maybe one or two for something odd, like septic services.

even the experts admit theres a chance that AI takes over and destroys humanity at some point. Most put it as fairly small though, 10 to 15%... of course they think the upsides are worth the risk, theres also a non zero chance that without AI, humans will destroy ourselves via war, pollution, unavoidable catastrophe, etc.
