a puzzling sight

The last two days driving down University near the NDSU campus I saw lots of 50-70 year old dudes wearing suits and other formal business attire. They were carrying and/or dollying white boxes full of small books.

There were at least eight or so and they were "posted" along corners - apparently positioned to hand out their little booklets. The curiosity is killing me - what were they up to? It seemed so "men in black" it was kinda creepy.

Good question. Now that I think of it, I just saw digging around the other day the last one I got at NDSU, but the ones handing them out were over 60 for sure. Just a plain pocket copy of the NT.

I'm fairly confident that when you were in college they hadn't yet invented printed books. Or universities.

Sounds like the Gideons to me. They've been handing out pocket new testaments for 100+ years I think. Pretty sure I've got one on a shelf somewhere that's older than guywhoissuspiciousofhispeople.
