Why is it that I hold the door for the Hillary generation when entering/exiting a business, and I never get a thank you.

Is it so hard to tell someone that is being kind a simple thank you, or are people now "entitled" to my good nature.

I know this is not fishing related, however since the driving topic came up this is just another one of the things on my list of courtesies lacking.

Thanks for listening..

Ha ha ha. I get the "you don't even exist" walk-by quite often too. But I'll continue to do it old school til I die cuz it's the right thing to do.

I used to say "you're welcome" to burn them but after a while that lost its pleasure, now I just go about my biz without really giving the rudesters a second thought. Sort of a turn-the-tables on their "you don't exist" rudeness.

But 50% still give a hearty thank you. It's easy to let the jackwagons dominate your thoughts, but lots of great folks left.

I get a couple thank you's here and there. I still get joy out of the "you're welcome" though.

You must be scary looking. I can't remember the last time I didn't get a thank you. I have also been pleased to see the number of teenagers holding doors for others. All is not lost!

Haha, yes if middle aged, receding hair line, and a bit portly is scary looking, then I have it nailed.

Yes I do get some thank you's from time to time, and I have used the your welcome response too.

I just think if I let you inline on the roadway, give me a little wave, or step back and let you go ahead of me at the store cause you only have a few items, and I have a bunch, that maybe a thank you is a good idea.

we live in a society people, just act like it.

Manners are lacking these days. For example when a good looking chick walks by i still say,"hey sugar tits are you working or are you walkin?" Most dont even have the common decency to do that anymore. Its the little things that count u guys...

Texting, sexting, and or emailing probably plays into this as well. Much much much too busy to relate to real live persons.

I don't see lack of manners so much generation specific, Old people can sometimes be the worst. I was running late one day and standing in the check out line with 2 cases of bottled water when this jolly ol fart without asking jumps ahead of my cart and told me "I only have a couple of things". It didn't bother me because he only had 4 items and judging by his age I figured he was in a hurry too or needed to rest because he probably had more hard miles on his body walking to country school in the 30s than I have hard miles.
He struck up a conversation about the weather and was so busy talking to me that he didn't notice it was his turn so I motioned him on and he struck up a conversation with clerk. Got his total and started counting change and that took him forever then when he was finished he stood right in my way and kept talking with the checkout girl. She finally walked around him and scanned my water and he walked away. He never did thank me for letting him in ahead of me , He just went and sat down on the bench and sat down and looked around. I got a chuckle out of it but if it had been a youngster it wouldn't have been amusing.

I'm 26 and am usually the one holding the door, but if not I always say thank you sir or ma'am knowing my father would kick my ass if not. There are still a few good kids out there

My kids are in elementary school in south Bismarck, and from day one, I have had the door held for me by students, nearly every single time, when I go in. BIG kudos to that school for teaching every kid (male and female) to hold the door for the person behind you. It still makes my face smile every single time.

I use the butler motion of the hand welcoming the blue hairs in. I have a 97 percent thank you rate.
