I had no idea that there were so many problems with the Okuma's. Glad this topic was brought up because I wanted to upgrade my Diawa's. I will be rethinking this.

I have two scheels Okuma reels, the brake keeps loosening up everytime you reel in a fish. I was tired of this so I bought 2 Aba Garcia alpha mar LC reels, haven't used them yet but they fell nice and have a consistent braking system. If you back reel 1/3, the braking system is cut by 50%. This will probably help with ripping lips or pulling hooks out.
