I have a 14 Sierra 1500 5.3. Bought it new and it currently has 171,000 miles. I disabled the AFM around 90,000 miles. Haven't had any issues before or after disabling it. Burns about the same amount oil (about a quart between 7500 mile oil changes). Used a Diablo tuner to turn it off. Found it annoying and really doesn't gain you noticeable fuel economy. I check in on a GM truck message board and haven't really seen any issues with disabling AFM.

Just bought a new 2021 F150 with the 5.0L/10 speed. First 2,000 miles love it - went to the Black Hills last week...averaged 20.5mpg doing 75 mph...impressive! Curious to see how she does mpg wise this spring when pulling the boat. The 2014 F150 with the 5.0/6 speed got about 13mpg towing boat when wind not a factor. Looked hard at the Chevy Trailboss with the 6.2L, but the set up/interior/lack of navigation quickly changed my mind...plus about $5K more. The navigation system in the Ford is incredible - the gravel roads in the Black Hills were accurately portrayed...really pleasant surprise. Only complaint I have on the new 150 are the side mirrors...too small IMO. I have the XLT/Sport trim...wish the side mirrors were just a little bigger.
My run around pickup for daily use is a 2018 F150 with the 5.0 and 10 speed. It is great when pulling the boat, but my enclosed Vfront trailer is like pulling a sail. I went to Tschida lake this weekend, and burned 3/4 tank of gas, about a 150 mile trip on a 32gallon tank. It does this with the trailer every time, worse in the cold

I love my 5.0, tried and proven motor

There any discounts on trucks or did you have to pay sticker?

Agreed, fords 5lit F150 is a proven ride...Chevy trail boss /6.2lit is as well with a 10spd tranny ,however other than a 2" factory body lift, trail boss is a basic truck one step up from a w/t (work truck) with chevy to get option upgrades, start with a 1lt,select engine/options desired then the 2lt (off road package, again select option's desired including nav and apple car play, these trucks today have sooo many features, safety etc it's mind boggeling.

Bought mine at Eide in Bismarck - second truck I've bought from them. I checked pricing on the 150's with the 5.0/XLT/Sport package far west as Billings, far east as Milwaukee, and south to Omaha. Did not find a better price anywhere...got the standard factory rebates and the Eide discount.
