True, parents do play a part in his up bringing, but the generation behind us have a different outlook, mentality on things of this nature, it is so much copy cat crap since the columbine shooting that it snowballed into what we are seeing today. So with that being said, todays kids and young adults don't give a rats crap what the consequence's are, they are dead set on shooting someone, they gonna do it, no matter what it takes to get a hold of gun, black market and all.

So my question is this, how you change their mentality on this matter?? You can't, only that person can do that is that person himself.

I'm sick of hearing, oh its the guns fault, we need gun control..blah blah blah, its not, it falls on the person himself.

A soundbite this morning of an interview with a kid who was in that school said, "there was chaos, and then they heard a lot of rapid firing from the resource officer, and they were relieved to know that they'd be okay."

I'd like that soundbite to be played every 13 minutes for the next 3 months, just like the Anti-2A coverage.

No, you really can't change their mentality.

My biggest question is why can't we just make schools safe? Why can anybody just walk right in and shoot it up? Put the gun debate aside. That's an entirely different issue. Do we need to have just a few entrances to every school with security guards and metal detectors? I don't know what the answer is but something needs to change.

Every parent that has children in middle or high school should be demanding a security officer be in the school.

Sounded like the kid liked those video games with all the killing on them, also sounded like he was picked on, even at football practice from the coach

We pay people to have kids, then we pay them to keep and raise them and house them and feed them with money that we give them using the honor system. What could go wrong?

Take God out, give everyone labels( black/white, rich/poor, gay/straight), preach hatred and turn everyone against each other. Seems awfully liberal to me.

No good answer. If someone is willing to give up their own life to do something like this it is damn near impossible to stop. Armed resource officers can hopefully minimize it but can’t stop it all together. Sucks!

Anyone catch Jimmy Kimmel last night? Before the monologue he did a blast against the NRA and shaming legislators for stuffing their pockets with NRA money.

It's the guns stupid........not stupid people.

I've only watched about 10 minutes worth of news since the shooting but what I saw was interviews with a bunch of girls that were running around all stressed and freaking out. That is exactly what these freaks are dying to see and crap like that is just more fuel for the fire.

SANTA FE, Texas – At least 10 people died Friday morning in gunfire at Santa Fe High school, law enforcement officials confirmed, while at least 12 others were injured, according to area hospitals.
Police arrested a suspect and detained a second person, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said via Twitter.
The bloodshed 30 miles south of Houston is the worst mass shooting in America since February, when 17 people were gunned down at a high school in Parkland, Florida, according to a database of shootings maintained by the Washington Post.
UPDATE 11:17 a.m.: At least 10 people have died, Gonzalez said.
11:10 a.m.: A senior law enforcement official said nine people have died. The shooter is a student who was armed with an AR-15 style assault rifle, a shotgun and a pistol, said the official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
"Evidently this guy threw pipe bombs all in there," the official said. "We don't know if any of them went off.
The source said the death toll, which includes students and staff, is expected to rise.

Gov. Greg Abbott said the shooter told investigators that he wanted to commit suicide after carrying out the shooting in a high school art room and had detailed his planning for the attack on his computer and in journals.
He added the gunman used two weapons in the attack, a shotgun and .38 revolver. Both of the firearms were legally owned by the gunman's father. Abbott said it was not yet clear if the father knew that the suspect had possession of the firearms.

did he actually even have an AR?

Time to ban revolvers and shotguns. The liberal heads are turning that this could happen without an assult rifle. Ban all ARs and this is still going to happen if we don't address the culture issue. I said this after the last one but there should be no way a student should be able to sneak in a long guns and should be as secure as airports.
