Didn't look at them too closely but Scheels had some on sale yesterday.
Neve touched the kill switch or cord unless its to pull a prank on a buddy.

I wear a regular life vest because with my luck those auto inflate or manual inflate would malfuckion.

I have been looking at getting an automatic life jacket for a while to now, looking at the onyx one on scheels website and it says not recommended for weak or non swimmers anybody know the reason for this? If a guy gets knocked loopy or falls into cold water and go into shock your going to be a weak swimmer I would think?

I have the Scheels Branded one. I'll never go back. It makes me wear it SO much more, because I can't tell it's there. I often forget I have it on, that I end up fishing in it all day.

i like the idea of the ones that inflate due to the pressure instead of water

That's a dirty prank, you bastage. A funny one, but a dirty one. Burning down a battery, because someone pranked you and you didn't check the switch.. ahh..

I nudged a kill switch with my hip once, and took at least an hour to figure it out. Out in the middle of sak on a flat hot day. Started wondering how far I could actually swim. 20 years ago, so no cell in the boat.

I was once pushed overboard on a dink-around day. We were just swimming and goofing off in the boat, and I had an expensive pair of glasses on. They fell off my face into the water around me, I was not going to loss them so I stayed under too long flailing my arms around in the water in a frantic search to the point that I almost sucked a gasp of water into my lungs. I seriously came damn close to drowning myself over a set of sun glasses. I actually found them, but scared myself with my stupidity.
Pushing someone over board is gay

How many of you have your kill switch attached to yourself when running at speed? Just curious and I need an auto inflate

Once you have a tiller with a 200hp plus engine you wear the tether when doing shotgun starts!

Never used to; however, since I've had kids and am out with them I have it attached to my auto inflateable. When not on plane I don't wear a life jacket, but always do when running. If I'm out with a kid or two, the last thing i need is to somehow get tossed from the boat and have it continue to motor away with a couple 6 year olds still in the boat. Same can be said for when your out alone if you get tossed. Never have come close to it happening, but as has been discussed, things can happen quick.

The jacket I have is a mustang, supposed to auto inflate and it has a rip cord as well. Haven't tried it out yet but hope it works when needed.

My dad fell out of the boat about 15 years ago. Hew was moving at 1/2 throttle. He was alone and wearing a life jacket. He was found floating with the boat spinning circles about 30 yards from him. This was when you had to hold the steering wheel or the boat would turn on its own. My new boat would keep going straight now. He still has not told me how it happened and refuses to talk about it.

Bought the Cabela's 3500 for my wife as a gift, as she recently started with her kayak. Decided to get another at that price, maybe I'll start to wear it consistently.

I have a Cabelas 3500 and have not had it inflate due to humidity. I have no issues with it. Mustang makes models that inflate due to the hydro static pressure of being underwater. I would definitely go automatic. There is also a gasp reflex that people have when they hit cold water.

Once I got used to it just a little bit, it doesn't feel right being in the boat without one.
same with mine, very comfortable forget I even have it on

always wear your inflator PFD OUTSIDE your jacket

I have heard of people being "boa constricted" by their inflator going off under a rain jacket

boy would that SUCK

the design is such that I've had mine (3 or 4 brands) soaking wet with spray/rain many times and they never go off (except for those left in wet humid storage compartments as mentioned)

I too thought they'd go boom when wet - but they never have. And I have a tiller (aka Angler Soaker System)
