Had a cherry tree do that, turns out the scion (fruiting part of the graft) had died and the root stock had died.

I checked and as far as I can tell the graft looks fine. I did have the same thing happen with an apple tree. Have to tear that one out this spring. Planted a cherry tree last year. Holy hell, did that thing take off. Again, supposed to be self pollinating. We'll have to wait and see.

I had a contender peach from gurneys for 3 years and it died over winter after that 3rd summer. Before it died it produced about a dozen peaches and they were very good. It got to about 8 feet tall. Replaced with reliance which had a few peaches last year but this year Im hoping for a decent harvest, if it survives the winter.

Was it the only peach tree you had? I have a single pear tree as well. Thinking I may plant more this year if it will help them produce.

Good luck! Aside from friends, family; orchards are one of the things we miss most about Ohio.

Yeah, it was alone and it produced fine. Are you in town or the country? You could try grafting on a branch of reliance if you want to see if that produces. If you are having apples and peaches not producing, might not be the trees causing it. Apples can take up to 7 years to produce after you plant them tho, depending on the size when planted. Usually youll start getting fruit on the 3rd to 4th year tho...

In the country. Would have put my head in an oven a long time ago living in town. Most of my stuff is going on 3-4 years. Have an old apple tree that really went down hill last year. I'm going to see what I get for blossoms this year before I tear it out. Had nasty wind storms last year. May have raised some hell.

The wife and mom pick which plants I just dig the holes and build what they tell me. We are growing our black berries and blue berries in the high tunnel and having good success. If it continues may put up another just for berries.

Thinking about putting a couple peach trees inside it as well.

What variety blue berries have you had the best luck with?

Are you a member of the ND horticulture society?

Cheries 4 or 5 varieties
Sand cheries
June berries race the birds and nets
honey berries
Goose beries
elderberries
grapes 3 varieties mstly jelly and wine
peaches iffy yet
apricots fair production
pears two varieties good production spoil fast
Several plum varieties
Several apple varieties we have a large press and make gallons and gallons of cider and juice.
Raspberries red and yellow
Black berries
Blue berries
Straw berries

Not a member of horticultural society, U? I got some big nets last year that saved my cherries. Didnt catch as many birds as I was hoping tho, thieving bastards! Couple times I found a robin trapped under my netted honeyberries and it didnt survive, unfortunately ;)
