well last week i decided that i was gonna go to some camping out in the snow with my dog i've never made a tarp shelter a raised bed a fire reflector and anything of the sort so this was all brand new territory for me and it was a blast just hanging out with the dog enjoying nature and getting in a good work out getting all the wood cut etc in building this little shelter, hope you enjoy the pics, and if there is anyone else that is into this i have lots to learn and would love to have a chat about bushcraft type stuff!

So you got in trouble and your wife made you go sleep in the woods?

At least there weren't any bugs! And that steak looks awesome.

Neat, not sure I would be up to it. But looks interesting.

P.S. After you have some little kids you can look back at these moments and remember what "free" time was.

that's fun stuff - did it lots in high school. sleep was crappy but good to know a guy "could" do it

the smoke smell gets pretty sickening - especially a week later on everything you took with that night - ha ha

haha.. the "free" time was pretty awesome i must admit! and yes the smoke smell is an ass kicker, but my summers have been filled with fires ever since i was a young kid so that is pretty standard you just have to wash everything twice haha (my hair 3 times before the wife would let me back in bed) there were a few hostiles, at about 2 in the morning the coyotes went off and my lab was not happy about it...

Did you tether your dog up, or was he free to roam after you hit the sack?

Wait... Bushcraft? In high school us poor kids from south of the tracks knew it simply as "camping".

We'd do a trip over New Years night each year once we got to beer-sneaking age.

were you taking the pics from the tailgate of your pickup with your cooler beside you?

or were you in the cab with the engine running while taking pics? ha

on a side note I have done enough camping like this in November in the mountains that I wouldn't do this for fun. lol

it's mostly a "feat of strength" (Festivus) thing - miserable and yet rewarding cuz you did it

- like your first colonoscopy
