I'm pretty sure I wouldn't ever shoot one like that. Treeing him with dogs and shooting him out of said tree just doesn't do it for me. Having said that, more power to you if it wets your whistle. I also understand that it's pretty much the only way to "hunt" one. Just another reason why I probably will never kill a cat.

not much different than hunting birds behind a good pointer with a shotgun

That cat has plenty of chances to get away. Just go hunt with dogs sometime and you would see how difficult it really is.

hunt with hounds is something i hope my brother can lined up in Idaho soon. Said to be one of the most physically demanding hunts chasing those dogs up and down the mountains.

not my thing either

when I was young (bloodthirsty) I daydreamed about owning hounds all the time

That said - I'm glad they treed and shot that deer killing machine. Killing to eat is one thing, but setting up shop in a hay yard and murdering deer and leaving them lay? Sounds like another animal we've discussed here on NDA.

Good!! More deer on the landscape is WAY better than more cats.

He was stocking up for the storm this weekend. Didn't want to run out of backstrap. Just like me and beer..

That one looks like it's been gnawed on a bit.

Had a chance to hunt raccoon with hounds once with a neighbor and I will say that was pretty fun and more of a challenge than one thinks. As compared to one time my buddy and I caught a family,5-6, of trouble raccoons all in one tree at the farm, they needed to go due to the messes they were causing but by no means was it very rewarding.

I would use dogs to hunt Sasquatch though. Now THAT would be something!!

You hunt Sasquatch with Jacks Links beef jerky unless you have a death wish.

I knew a guy that hunted cats with dogs in MT and he said the actual hunt was in finding a fresh track and following the dogs through whatever the cat takes you through (which he said is hell sometimes). The actual shot at the end is somewhat anti-climactic.
When you think about it...its not much different than using decoys to lure in waterfowl, fish finders to locate fish, bait to shoot a bear over, etc. (alcohol to improve your odds of getting the girls number across the bar...). Outdoorsmen use "tools" all the time to improve their odds.

The world can be divided into two kinds of people. Those who run with Sasquatch and those who run from Sasquatch
