I see no reason to not do this.

One more plea for crossbows and un-scoped handguns in the fall.

Let the rifles ruin "hunting" in November. This is in the spirit of quiet and solitude for those less skilled. I describe WT hunting up here during the first week to the folks in the Hills as "rabbit hunting" for deer. It doesn't matter how the tag is filled. One can't hunt anymore without a tag.

What I'm saying is "any tag" "any close range weapon" within restriction until rifle season. After that; back to my concept with no restrictions on muzzleloaders. Seems to simplify things. Fill your tag(s) how you want. Triple the fines/penalties for illegal activity.

so you want to use a gun to fill an archery tag????

The definition of archery in case you are confused:
Archery is the sport, practice or skill of using a bow to propel arrows.

I'd like to sit in a stand quietly and legally shoot a deer with my open-sighted self-defense handgun. Or .50 S&W. No more noise/activity than all the shotguns in pursuit of various things. One tag/one deer--3 tags/3 deer. I'd drop back to handgun/muzzle loader after the rifle circus due to yarding.

You're mocking me and not seeing the concept. It's the same damn thing.

No it's not!! I get to wear a cool hat and trench coat with my conceptual concept of the initial original first post. With a 4 inch barrel you have to wear your pants on backwards with a bandanna and contort your fingers into arthritic postures.

Seriously though Svn, if a guy wants to hunt with a handgun, you are already allowed that option. I've tried it and I can tell you that it REALLY increases the challenge factor for taking a deer. However, combining a firearm with archery equipment in the same stand at the same time is not something I'm in favor of as both options are currently on the table and all one has to do is wait 'til firearms season to participate. The other item is that there are several rifles that are made to use handgun cartridges such as the 44 mag and 45. Too much opportunity to "Game the System" as well as be a regulatory problem for LE.

KD,

I realize the many reverberations with manufacturing and purchase. IMHO it's the hunt not the tech. Same with fishing. Fly fishers and double gunners are responsible for many laws. IMHO, my concept restores a lot of the modern intent.
