The house behind my office has a new tenant with a medium sized dog. For weeks now this dog has been barking non stop. Whether it be a vehicle drives by in the alley, or some customer happens by, or the wind blows a flake of snow off the tree. The effn thing will not stop barking.
My dog was a barker when a young pup, I picked up a bark collar and within a few days he learned barking was not going to be okay.
Do I dare take that same old collar and put it on this persons dog when out by the dumpster we share? Would this be illegal, or crossing the line a bit more than acceptable?

Cause I like dogs and all, but this barking has to stop one way or another.

talk to the owner, offer the bark collar with a two fresh busch lights. Enjoy said busch lights while watching the dog figure out the bark collar.

Oh I think that is illegal. I supposed the owners could consider that abusing their animal. Or at least trespassing? Couldn't you call the cops and complain? Maybe the owners just think it's no big deal, but it would piss me off to no end as well.

Just putting the collar on the dog would be a recipe for disaster. I like the busch light suggestion, that would be the best play. As a dog owner I hate unsolicited advise about how to do things with my dog (ie 'OMG you absolutely HAVE to force fetch', insufferable ex coworker would tell me all the time) but if my dog was bothering someone I definitely would like to know to correct it. Plus I like busch light so win win.

As DM said, talk to the owner in a nice way. Tell him his dog is annoying with the constant barking.Tell him if he doesn't fix the problem you will be calling animal control. But in order for animal control to do something, you might have to sign a complaint against the dogs owner. Good luck. Dogs that bark all the time SUCK.

hopefully the owner doesn't know the dog is doing this. If he does go over to the house kick the shit out of owner and shoot the dog. (Kidding) I like dirty's idea.

Meet the person first and find out "If the dog is as smart as the owner" then make game plan.....

I hate the thought of calling the cops for somthing simple. Be polite and talk to the owner. If the owners a dick start taking dumps on his dog. Problem solved!

In Fargo if someone complains the police will call you and tell you to take care of it or risk a fine and a wellness check. Put a buddies dog in my outdoor kennel once and all was fine, until it started to sprinkle. Dog didn't know there was a doggie door to get under cover and barked enough to piss off a neighbor into calling. Cops called me, we rushed home and solved the issue. I have no idea which neighbor it was or I'd have apologized.

Winner. I'll add one more thing: don't open with, "your loud ass dog makes me want to throw him from an overpass." Instead, should the opportunity present itself, make it a "how'd'ya do, neighbor?" Commence with beer and BS. Get to talking admirably about fine looking dog, exchange stories about your dog and his, then slip in, "you know, I noticed your dog barks a lot. Mine used to do the same thing until I got a bark collar. I've still got it. Why don't you give it a try..."

This way, he's aware the dog has a barking problem. If the problem persists and said dog vanishes one day (because you can't possibly be the only person bothered by it) he doesn't immediately peg you as "that asshole neighbor who always hated my dog!!!"

If I found out a neighbor intentionality poisoned my dog with out talking to me I would board up every exit to his house and burn it down with him in it. I would think talking to the person would be the best option.
